Water Pump

Got a water pump kit (merc part number 46-42579A4).
There's pack inside (56-96148A 98) in which are various bits.

My question chaps is ,,,, does the thick rubber washer fit in the recess in the pump housing between the impeller cup and the top of the housing?
I understand that the part number is 35-30271. http://ww2.sierramarine.com/sierra/c...20%20%20%20%20
It's the washer (?) in the centre of the middle set of gaskets.

It's a perfect fit over the shaft & fits in the 'recess' just fine!

Part number you quote is actually 25-30271. This is the rubber ring that sits on top of the waterpump housing and is a seal for the drive shaft. Waterpump housing goes down over drive shaft and then this ring follows that. Simple!
