What prop for yamaha v6?

Currently got 26" OMC raker on my 19 with Yamaha 200Hp. Flat out it revs to 6000.

I was told it produces max power around 5000-5500 mark, would a 28" laser II make it go quicker? or any other prop recommended?

I was planning on removing bowtank as never use it so should lighten it up a bit.

Hi!

Removing the bow tank had a good result with my " underpowered " Fletcher 199 with 115 Yammi!
I put all the weight to the stern and i got much more bow lift and 2 kmh more top end!

My brother has the same Fletcher ( 19.7 ft ) , with a 225Yam , how fast is your P19?

Best regards!
Andi

i believe each change of pitch with the same prop is around 200 rpm

Used to run a 24 or 26 yam prop on mine, Yam 225 on a P20, trouble is genuine yam props are like rocking horse poo

Hey P19

According to Merc marine, adding 1 inch pitch will reduce RPM by 150 - 200.

Info from really useful ask mercury site (ok not yammi - but same principles)

ps what you doing with your redundant bow tank - need one for my R21

A Raker has more bow lift than a Laser - removing the bow tank will mean you will need less bow lift anyway so it's worth a try if you can borrow it?

maybe a 25" Tempest could do the trick is all you want it go top end otherwise i can recommend a Trophy 24" and/or a Mazco HP4 25"..

Just after top speed really.

I had a 24" yamaha overhub but boat didnt seem to like it, went much better with a 23" laser, although really overrevved.

Its pretty quick with the Raker 26, I`ve just got used to it now so want to see if I can get it any quicker.

Bowtank I removed when I had a 140 on back but put it back in again when stuck the V6 on as tghoguht I might use it for skiing a bit but havent needed it so will be out again and redundant soon i guess!
