XR2 question

Are XR2 manifolds generally cross drilled?
Mine is and I am still trying to get a decent holeshot/pull out for water skiing and wonder if Xdrilling is mucking up mid range progression of carbs as there is no power under 3000rpm.

Help appreciated AdamB

Hi Burty,

Ring 20 fitted with a 200 2.5 offshore fishing motor to which a previous owner has fitted an XR2 type power head.

Engine has WMH 18 pumper carbs, 40amp electrics 26cc heads xdrilled manifold and fiberglass reeds.

Gearbox is stock 200 1:87 and prop is a laser II 21.

Idle is very rough and engine bogs and struggles untill 3000RPM when it takes off and flies. I changed electrics last year, bit it made no differance. so now looking at carburation?

Adam,

Have you stripped and cleaned the carbs? Easy fix, done in an evening.

Also might be worth checking diaprham in fuel pump.

You running a fuel filter?

Cheers

Jim
