Yam throttle

A mate has just up graded his RHIB to a 4.8m Brig with a new Yam 100 4 stroke.
The throttle control don't have the "lift to engage gear" lever !!! Is this normal? To my mind it's an accident waiting to happen!

Yes it is normal - some of the Yamaha flush mount controls do not have this feature, including the new fly by wire control for the big fourstrokes - I have just fitted out a rib with an F250 for my colleague and you can easily just lean on the control by accident an unleash 250hp from neutral instantly, especially as there are no control cables to operate.
