Yamaha 150 90´ish

Am thinking of doing a fix-up on my fuel system on my Yamaha out board.
Anybody know were i can get one of those 'exploding' drawings showing the parts/engine numbers i need for re-doing the fuel pump etc.?

I got a serialnumber to help along:

Hi Seb!

Check out:

www.boats.net

is it a " G " at the bottom right at your engine-typeplate?

If yes, your outboard is born in 1988 :-)

OK I get close

Your Engine is 1983 150A/150CETO

Earliest I have is 1984. See attached picture. Yamaha parts diagrams in PDF are notoriously bad. However for some reason a year later and hey its much clearer and while the breakdown numbers are different the parts numbers seem to remain the same for several years. PDF is the later one.

no, the 83's yammis have different cowling and not this design.

only the letter indicates the model-year.

there are differences between the us and european models.

Yamaha 150

From your description... it's likely something pieced together from various components.
Yamaha CODE 6G4 is 1983.
Check here:
6G0 1982- 25F
6G1 1982- 8C
6G2 1982- 35B (JPN)
6G3 1982- 35CK (JPN)
6G4 1983 150A/150CETO

strange !, or may be only the saddles are 1983.

How stupid of me I must remember to order all my parts now based on the cowl design and not the presumed engine number. Hey everyone that's fitted an aftermarket alien cowl all your part numbers have been superseded.

What the very helpful gentleman is trying to say politely is the serial number you supplied is from a 1983 150A. Several things to consider here, firstly the saddle is usually the most reliable and long lived part of an outboard so let's call it the chassis. Your chassis is 1983. Possibly you have a later power head and or gearcase but also just as likely it is in fact a 1983. Someone has either cosmetically updated your engine with a later cowl OR changed the saddle/chassis from an earlier model for whatever reason. Same thing happens time after time in the car trade which is why "numbers matching" is used so very often. If I had £10 for every 200hp XR2 which is supposed to be out there when its got oval transfers I'd be on holiday in the Bahamas right now. Having followed your numerous post over several years however I suspect given the number of boats you've dabbled in you already know this.

I'm just trying to determine what year my outboard is so that I may order the right bits. That's it.
I realize that sometimes the truth most often is distorted a little when people talk about the age of an of outboard, but I'm just surprised over the result, when I now had imagined something else….

Then your letter should be a p not a g ;-)

Yammi 2.6 150 are the same from 83 to 89.

Download this

http://www.claus-schalhorn.de/YBaujahr.xls

Search for "150aeto" then you will see that
there are more 150s with 6g4 is also 84,85,86,87,88 and 89.
Then you have to compare with your serialnumber.
After that you will see that your yammi is around 88.

The easier way is to check the letter on type plate. Thats it. :-)

There are lots of used yammis advertised with
wrong year of built. Mostly they are older
than advertised. Dont let them fool you ;-)

Polite enough ?
