Who made the decision to scrap BCC

I like Graham find the current situation very frustrating, there appears to be no consideration for owners of existing boats or those that rigged their boats to support this class-do I want to risk re-rigging for another class to find after a season it is defunct.
I understand that certain race engines(possibly mine) have to jump to the next class up and race on a larger course and as far as I am aware I'm likely to be in this class on my own anyone else like to join me?
I could possibly be on a longer course with the V24's to keep me company but they have their own championship.

Why as my engine '200XS' is UIM homologated and complies to the 200hp EPA rules do I have to move up a class-this is a joke.

I am being penalised for having a race engine on a race boat and wanting to race, If I had a race boat with a leisure engine that's OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I am forced to do this I will jack it in !
I'd appreciate some answers from whoever decided these rules obviously with no consultation with those that actually race.
From a potential EX RACER

Powerhead is the EPA UIM regulated component

So I could change to a 200hp leisure powerhead put it on my offshore leg and that would be ok ? Then tune it to the hilt .Someone needs to see sense. If my boat is considered to be overpowered (how can it be its a 200hp)for its length then keep me on the small courses to keep the speed down, we all know the bigger courses are often rougher which does not suit a smaller boat, ask James we got beaten to a pulp in Torquay last year.

Also imagine if the V24's are not attending an event is a course going to be laid out just for me? as I do not know of any other like boats that would be in this class-I might be wrong.
At the end of the day my boat is no faster than the other boats in the 200hp class.

Opps

I've just been informed that there is a minimum length requirement of 23' to be forced into the higher class with my type of engine which is a relief.
Finally some sense,

I should of got my facts right before sounding off.
apologies Nic

apparently BCC is no more (it would have been nice to be told officially as I supported it last year)The Class's are what Bob started last year and have evolved for this year but it appears with some stupid restrictions.

hiya nic, what you have said is the point i was trying to make, that there is no structure for 2litre or optimax raceboats now they have defunked 3c and bcc,all they will be left with is a few 3b/a boats, organisers have not thought this through

Apparently the length rule has been rejected so I am back to square one and all my previous comments applying.
Is there anyone else that was planning to race this year and with a boat that drop's into Bob's over 200 hp class ?,

Can someone please let me have the contact details of the RYA Manager

Even more frustrated Nic

nic,our v24s will be in the over 200hp class, but i think you should have a word with graham, neil, and scotty as they all would be in your class, and get the organisors to give you a championship, you would get our support, lets stick together on this

3C
This once very popular class had UK boats numbering in the late 20's in some years.
The Mercury 2 litre engine (in its various guise) was the power of choice for most competitors for many years - 3C competitors raced at an average speed of late 60 mph, and a quick catamaran could achieve 80 + up on the lake on a cold autumnal afternoon.
When the Mercury engine changed to the Optimax, HP and CC were raised, mono hulls could run 90 + and cats could break the ton with ease.
The UIM then decided that Canopies should be mandatory for all 3C boats. (I've come out of a 3C cat at 72 mph as a young thing, wouldn't fancy doing it at 90).
Only 1 UK Class 3C competitor had a boat built to that spec, the rest decided that they didn't want to race with canopies (the BCC series), raced in other classes, retired or walked away from the sport.
Isn't it time the UIM see sense? Drop the HP and CC for 3C, (engine change) bring the speeds down and make it more cost effective for the competitor.

The french series appears to be very strong, and has quite a diverse level of entries. What classes are raced there?

I do not want to race on the larger course's in a 19' boat its ok in the flat but beats you up in the rough.I would also have to get my boat to 80 + mph to be competitive which would be scary and unsafe.

Offshore or Inshore?
Back in the day, the sport had a very good answer for this.

If you wanted to race your Phantom 16' round the cans, you raced in Class 4 or Offshore Circuit Racing as it became known.

If racing round the buoys made you dizzy, you could elect to run the same hull (with a different set up) in Class 3 and compete in adventurous long legs where you didn't see a fellow competitor or safety boat for the longest time. (Try putting a life raft into a P 16' race deck for the London Calais London).

I have heard the arguments a thousand times for close inshore circuit racing - It attracts the spectators, media interest is higher and so it goes on.

It appears with Bob McCarthy's series from last year and 2014 and from reading some posts on here "inshore" racing for outboard powered mono hulls is in vogue.

Both the 100 and 150 classes have been scrapped ! France run V200 Stock, V200 Pro, Sport 2ltr and Spot 3ltr still a few 130's and 150's running in the 200 class.

Am I missing the point ?

There appears to be a lot of personal requirements being used to manipulate the rules.
Other than UIM approved and sanctioned class's that have a means of policing engines/power/modifications.
For anyone racing outside these class's there needs to be a basic engine size/output requirement with a clause that if someone builds a monster spec boat it can be disallowed.
Have no course restrictions or stipulations for the course length and let the crews decide when they see the regs if they want to race at that event.
We keep getting safety requirements being pushed down our throats,in my opinion longer courses creates longer periods at high speed and the higher risk of having a big one.
We do not have enough active racers to divide the few that are trying to race due to differences of opinions.
I personally just want to race with like minded people in similar boats.
At the end of the day as long as the racing is close its better for spectators/sponsors it creates a spectacle that the resorts would want in their town.
I don't really care what's written on the engine cowl or under the hood as long as we get close racing, depending on the speed of your boat and the crew ability you should find another similar boat to race with but that could be a struggle if only 6 boats turn up.
To survive we need all the events to be supported by the few people that are racing or it will all fold.
Please stop all the bickering and see sense.

Regards Nic

Does not sound very promising to me. If there was one really strong class racing decent courses (personally I don't want to be going round in small laps all the time) at decent venues I would probably still be racing.

Also would like to see the RYA really leading things forward, getting everyone in unison and then generally making the sport easier.

But for me this will be the first year since 1980 that I have not even joined a powerboat club!
