12/13 May Burryport Race W/end

Hi Guys

The Hotboats and Basic Race for all classes at Burryport is now 37 days away. I have sorted out the officials, the crane, the safety fleet, the ambulance, the paramedic, the divers, the refuelling and the race party.

There is prize money up for grabs for all classes and as you have seen even more prize money for V24s.

To date there seems to be total apathy from you, the competitors. As Course Approvals have to be submitted 30 days before an event; entries must be in by no later than Wednesday 11th April.

If I do not have enough entries, I will have no alternative but to cancel this event.

If you are intending to enter, please let me know.

Gary Manchester
Chairman, Hotboats Racing Association

Think things will pick up much better in the latter half of the year would be a good class for any RB boats to find the sea legs & shake down, fine tune, ect. I'm sure the date is a difficult one for some falling between Class III races as it does and just before the national.
Stick at it things will pick up I'm sure.

OK,

Lets try and bring out some BASIC boats....

You can buy a licence on the day for I think £60 that covers both races.
You have tons of people who will help you ensure you have your required kit, including the organisers, and members of Boatmad.
BASIC racing is actually fun, and none of the competitive crap exists at these events, and it is a great time out for everyone.

Sooo, if you are a BASIC boat, and thinking of racing at Burryport, here is an offer for you:

1) You send in your entry form, with £200 to the organisers, and I will pay the balance ( as agreed with Gary ) Remember there is a time limit so you will have to act quickly!!
2) For each of the races at Burryport you start, I will pay you £75 'start money' as 'sponsorship' per race = total £150.... You have to go to the muster, start the race, and pass the first turn bouy to collect the cash.
3) For each race at Burryport, if you complete 75% of the race as defined by the race officials I will pay you £25 'finishing money'.
4) If you are not a member of a racing club ( you need to be ), you can join the V24 Powerboat Club under our new BASIC RACER category, ( which will be approved on Tuesday ) which will cost £10 for the year 2007. The club is a full RYA affiliated club, and as such can sign off your licence form if you want the annual licence, or confirm membership if you buy an event licence.

So to summerise, the entry to the weekend racing will cost you effectivly £50 entry fee if you start both races, and nothing if you complete 75% of both races. ( due to the subsidy of the entry fee and the 'start' and 'finish' money. equalling the £200 you would have needed to pay to enter. )

Your club membership will cover the costs of administration of the licence confirmations, as as such is set at £10. As a special deal, if both navigator and driver ( or other crew for a bigger boat ) signup as club members, I will personally pay the additional membership fees, so the most your boat will pay is £10 for all crew.

So all that is left as 'costs' is the cost to get the licence from the RYA - and that is a good price actually, as it includes insurance and stuff.

So if you are thinking about entering BASIC races this year, this would appear to be the perfect oppertunity. So if you have a boat, even if it is not the one you intent to race with later, or it is not the right engine or whatever - this is a good event to start with....

Bravo!!

A very generous offer Marc. And this should sort the real wannabe's, from the ones who only wanna talk about it.

Basic racing is definitely a good crack.

Yes we have enough boats to run it, but you can never have enough boats.

The race weekend is now an all classes Basic Race with racing on Sat and Sun, and we would love to see as many boats as possible. Just remember that with Very Trickys kind offer there is start money and all sorts of other things happening.

There is a race party Sat Eve with live music and food tickets avalible to all, the press are coming all in all it should be what racing is all about fun.

So if anyone else wants to join in the fun get in touch, we would be delighted to answer any questions. and look forward to seeing you all
