The Boatshed - Isle of Wight

OK,

Some nice news, our fundraising efforts have been helped along:

The Boatshed have agreed to sponsor the event, and all of this sponsorship will go to our good cause!

This is in addition to the donation by Drivers Dry Berthing.

( For those who did not know, Drivers Dry Berthing are charging a very reduced launch/recovery fee of £25 for each boat for the event, and are then donating this money entirely to the good cause fund! )

So the event now has a name: The Boatshed Isle of Wight Challenge.

For this race I would guess a qualified navigator is one with two eyes who can walk and can sit in the boat without upsetting the driver too much.
does this mean there are un-qualified ones??

I used to know a girl at HISC nicknamed Big Bird. I recall she had exceptionally large tits - watching her run was a rare pleasure.

Yes,

The QHM has at this time not given his permission to run the event through Portsmouth Harbour. We can go from Cowes to Bembridge, but no further.

I have a face to face with the three harbourmasters on Thursday to try push this through. Only after Thursday will there be an official result and only then would I make a formal announcement.

I have advised everyone who has entered to date, and asked them what they thought of several alternatives. If we do not get the go-ahead to do the Round the Island, then we will do a course from Thorness Bay, out past the needles, whis fairway, into Christchurch bay, north chanell, up the solent, around some cans, finishing at Gurnard - would be about 40 miles course, as apposed to 55 miles round the island. More navigation to do, less stressfull race for the boat and driver.

All those who have entered to date have said they would do this alternate course, but as we do not know finally and for sure till Thursday, I was hoping not to have to mention it yet!

How about going clockwise for a change. Start at Cowes, have a really long start run and drop the flag at Bembridge?

Obviously you'd need a fast start boat . . .

Yes, this was an option that was dicussed, but in this instance it is not the RYA that are causing the issue. The RYA (bless them) have not prevented the race from going ahead.

There are definate issues with the RYA, which we will address in the CCM meeting - but they are doing things by the book at this time, so you can not fault them for the Harbourmasters.
