SAFETY SEMINAR

11th, 12th & 13th March 2011

The RYA Powerboat Racing Department would like you to join us on the 11th, 12th & 13th March for the Safety Seminar at RYA House in Hamble.

The Seminar will be hosted by Bob Wartinger who is Chairman of UIM Cominsafe.

The Seminar will be split into 3 days covering several aspects some of which are outlined below.



Friday 11 March: Invitation to all RYA Scrutineers and Measurers:

· Upgrade to a 508 Canopy Scrutineer

· Highlight sensitive areas that can cause trouble if not detected

· Scrutineering the interior and exterior of cockpit, canopies, hulls,

· Steering & Stability,

· Personal Safety Equipment

· Accident Investigation,

· The psychological aspects related to performing as a scrutineer

· Become a new RYA Electronic Scrutineer - run by leading UK dealer for Evinrude engines no prior experience required



Saturday 12 March: Invitation to all RYA Officers of the Day, Safety Officers and Commissioners:

Update on all current rules in RYA Offshore and Circuit Rule books, PB1 and PB2

· Duties of Officials

· Officials Resolution Skills

· Communication

· Legal Liability

· On Water Safety demonstration on casualty extraction from the water



Sunday 13 March: Invitation to All Competitors in Offshore, Circuit & Jet Sport Racing

Presentations, Displays and Q &A sessions aimed at improving a drivers performance. A better performing driver will be a safer driver.

The major points are about improving the driver, and by the way, paying attention to these points will also enhance safety.

Covering topics such as:

· Personal Equipment,

· The Cockpit Environment,

· Hull-Stability (a simple way to understand and implement),

· The Psychology of High Performance,

· The Psychology of Accidents,

· Risk /Reward Balance,

· Driving Considerations ( important driving information),

· Survival Reactions (What are they and how they teach us to be better drivers),

· Rehabilitation from an accident,

· Anti-Doping,



We hope this Safety Seminar will be useful to all aspects of the sport and look forward to welcoming you.
