2012 Rules and Regs.
If this thread could not turn into an argument or get jammed full of bitching I'd appreciate it
What's the likely timescale for the safety review of OCR style boats, and the 2012 rules being published? I need to re-rig my boat, buy new helmets etc, and I'd like to start as soon as possible this winter so I don't miss 90% of the season like this year... Obviously I don't want to buy lids that aren't up to spec or spend dozens of hours rigging my boat only to find that it doesn't meet the new rules.

Good question - it's all ongoing but I can't see what can be done, and we build the Phantom 19's!

In the first instance speak to your club representative !! ie Larby.
We have been promised a statement from the RYA by Monday.
If its anything specific email me and I will always try and help.

Cool thanks Bob. Is it a Public statement being issued or just one out to the clubs?

I would hope it to be public !! Although if it goes to clubs then it should then be circulated to its members.

As I have rather a large number of CMC2013 Race Teams buying and building boats right now it would be appreciated if SOMEONE would let me know what the latest mods to the Marathon rules are which have just been ratified by the UIM - so that I can advise the CMC2013 fleet!!!!

It would be nice to know whether or not we will have to make any modifications to the boat or is it just a case of buying a more expensive helmet like Simpson.
Obviously Formula one is constantly reviewing their rules and regulations to be as safe as they can be and I expect offshore racing will do likewise.

For all the guys in Guernsey - It's best just to give me a call and I can keep you up to date. There is news, but there's no point me doing a proper release to everyone until I know more. Planning to do that over the weekend.
In the meanwhile, please feel free to give me a call and I'll bring you up to speed.
Cheers, Larby

Reules and Regs.
Likewise with all SEPA Members. As James has said there is movement but it has not been finalised. The RYA hope to get everything sorted by early December but it is too complicated to go into on this forum. If SEPA members want to give us a call, we can let you know what the RYA plans to do over the coming month.

At the moment we don't foresee any substantial changes to Basic boats !! There is a safety review next week which we should have the results of by mid December.
If there is anything you are uncertain about then please call your club representative or me.
If you don't belong to a club already then I strongly recommend joining one. If you have not raced before we will be holding a Training weekend in Plymouth over Easter.

As far as i understand there is no problem with 3b racing and the boats. its that STYLE/FORM of racing. but obviously there is no problem now.

It would be nice to have something official from the RYA to say where we are with all this and what can or can't be done!
