I agree with you Dan but your preference is with OCR great fun if you like the smaller laps, whereas mine along with some others in this thread is with Class 3 .. longer races and (a bit) of navigation. Both equally as good... just different.

Now, the sport is so small, that it wouldn't be taken seriously by the UIM - which would be the hardest organisation to convince. Insurance is easy, so long as the world governing body has given you its blessing.
It is such a shame that the RYA, which is still owned by its members, and controlled by elected representatives; the same system of governance as most of the organising clubs, is being presented as 'anti powerboating' - simply due to the experienced volunteers who should be setting policy, rules and overall direction of the sport (ORC) being undermined, ignored and by passed by a paid administrator. Who has so much power and influence that he is able to present himself as "THE RYA".
I can think of no other club or association, where the elected board has no remit of management over the paid staff who should be working for them.
This is where the RYA Council and Chief Executive have let down Powerboat Racing. They have not managed their paid staff.

At the risk of getting shot...... i have a serious question.
Is the RYA the problem or the powerboat racing section? after all the top dogs dontvhave anything to do with the petty in fighting caused by club rifts? Maybe we should look at our selves because they just probably look at powerboat racing as petulent children?

I guess i should add... as i dont know how the top end of the powerboat section works.
Once ORC and other committees etc have decided on things, does the RYA have any say on how the sport is run?
I understand that large events such as the venture cup would need backing as it will be under the RYA banner but how do they affect the running of club/national racing matters and what input do they have with the day to day running of racing?
Sorry if i was not clear in my original post.
