3ton fast pleasure boat

J Fuller - Quote
"Why would anyone in their right mind (lets use Paul Howes as an example, though he's not in his right mind) pay to race a 70mph 3 ton fast pleasure boat, againt a boat like neils cat, or 'Quiver'?"

Just thought I should reply to the above....

Firstly a very good friend of mine is a Shrink (he tells me, fully qualified) and his professional opinion is that I'm of sound mind & very capable of a rationale thought process.

I paid to race my boat in the Cowes P1, knowing full well that I was giving over a 100hp to the rest of the field and should have come in dead last in therory. However out of a field of 13, we came 7th on saturday and after hurting my back on sunday & retiring we got 8th overall.

Not bad for our 1st time out & a pleasure boat. I fully admit that Miles Jennings taught me more about driving my boat in 2 days
than I've learn't in the last 20 yrs, especially on sunday.

My wonky shed of a pleasure boat even had the cheek to enter 3 races over the weekend. You must remember Sunday morning, you were the start boat, that turned up course right in front of me!! Thanks...but thats racing.

We did not win, and that was my fault. But me GF had a great time in our pleasure boat.

For your information our pleasure boat is 3mph faster than last years C....n race boat with the same HP. Shows us English know a little about setting up a boat, maybe!!

JF Quote - "Paul Howes 33 is 2 years old"

Actually the boat is only 16mths old. and I'm 41 yrs old.

JF I think you concentrate on the boat a little too much. The crew make a massive difference. Look at Vee & Charlie on Sunday, their skill & courage made a massive difference. Top stuff.

Anyway lets leave the negative comments, opinions & thoughts at home.

I personnally only recieved possitive comments & opinions from all involved with a fantastic weekend. And would like to thank them all.

Cheers Paul

Kinfast-o-clock?

For you information Paul, my comments on that thread re: your boat, were not a jibe at you, or your boat at all!
They were to try and explain where I felt the proposed rules for 'Hotboat' had a few details that could be better, that's all.

A leopard never changes it's spots! That phrase certainly goes for me as much as anyone, probably more in fact, but it also refers to you, and your 2am drinking/posting habit & lack of 'clue'!...let's not go through all this again, it's really rather dull.

Yes. probably! If only I had your wealth of experience & expertise, I'd be able to see the wood for the trees!...ho hum

FYI, the outstanding drive of the day (Sunday) in a boat with a fundemental disadvantage was Gavin Brown, not Vee.
