Around the island in November

Who would be interested in an RYA sanctioned 'Round the Island' basic race on either November 12th or November 19th?

Feedback I am getting is that many would like to do 'Around the Island' and November - the end of the boating season would be the ideal time - no Nationals or Record attempts to 'preserve' the boat for, a whole lot less sail boats, calmer conditions and cooler air - perfect for the end of season run.

What thoughts do you guys have?

Give the guy a chance, he's only asking if there's interest.

There was a rumour that safety could be thin if a helicopter with diver was provided. There are several several several things to work out.

If there is interest ( and there appears there is ) then next steps need to be taken to move from an 'idea' to a 'possibility'.

Once the 'posibility' is set, then we can approach the RYA and the other required authorities with a 'plan'

At that stage, we would be able to formally announce it.

Time is not on our side however.....

My boat would probably be available for safety cover - do I need a ticket to do safety for the event?

No. A commercial license isn't needed.

If this does get off the ground, anyone can race provided they meet the RYA requirements.
