Silly question time...Mr Oracle ringed G97 from round the island race last year average speed 77.15 for some reason I thought this was a Phantom 28. In the Brass monkey a Phantom 28 ran but average speed in calm conditions 62, was it the same boat and if so why the big difference? out of interest any one shed any light.

G97 is a P28 and has a pair of supercharged inboards..........a fantastic boat, Looks & Sounds the buisness.
The 28 from the Brass Monkey is owned by Chris on this forum. Its an original o/b boat and was spec'd to be one of the lightest 28's built. It 'only' has 2x opti XS's..........so probably less than half the hp of G97.
That said........ I love'm both!

Thank you for explaining.......hopefully it will run again this year, will look forward to seeing and hearing it, and I agree that was a great average time for a large boat in the Brass Monkey with half the horses. cheers

cheers chaos for the pics, and mr cfun for your interest, problem is no class to race it in only basics and i can only crane in,so cant race it much, average speed wasnt to bad as there were three tight turns in the course which meant we were probably down in the 40 to 50 mph area in the turns,it needs more hp though to shove it along!300xs?

No they're 300Y's, not X's.
Would that be to the right owner with a suitably fat wallet?
