Calling All Boat Owners!...

Calling all Boat owners…..

As you know I raced in 3B last year, it is a great entry level class, I had an amazing year, met some great people and was really looking forward to 2010…. only problem is I have no one to race this year.

There are thousands of Boatmad members, a majority of which own a boat, there must be at least one person who wants to get into racing and who owns a boat that fits the 3B regulations. This is the last chance before the first national race in Looe, in 3 weeks time to get some more boats registered in the class.

Also the UK is applying to hold the World 3B Championships next year, if this is the case it would be great to have some boats to represent the UK.

So anyone with a boat…

- Between 5m / 16.4’ and 6.8m / 22.3’ in length
- 1 - 1.3 litre engine (EPA compliant 1760cc)
- Min weight for Monohull 435kg
- Min weight for Multihull 500kg

As everyone is always saying it is hard to find the forms and the information needed to race I have included everything you need in to register your boat for 3B this year and keep the class alive:

2010 License Application form

Measurement Certificate

Certificate of competance for U18's

3B Equipment List

Race Calendar

And a Club Membership at http://www.orda.co.uk/

Hope to see you all soon,
Ashleigh

All the best with getting somore boats out - would be good to see.

Into the future I can definitely get one boat out for the Worlds if they come to the UK next year and might have another project for a new design that would fit the class - but nothing happening this year!

Hope all goes well

3B is one of the back bones of offshore and it's a shame so few are out there racing, a great place to start and progress into the international scene too.

If things don't pull through in the mean time I know you've had an invite to Stewartby this weekend and if others joined then they would also see why offshore racing has such an appeal.

Good luck and hope to see you at events this year.

Having spent a season in 3B in 2003 I can only endorse that it is a great class to get started in, so come on guys lets get some opposition for Ashleigh. There are plenty of people who will offer their advise, so dont feel shy if you are worried about getting started.

I've always fancied it, but have been let down quite badly by both Mr Atkins and David Lloyd!

Could I have dispensation to run a 300XS?

I guess then the Power to Weight ratio would be correct

Been out recruiting people today...

We took the boat to the Horsell Scouts and Guides Mayfair today. And was very surprised by the amount of interest there was. Lots of interest in UKFFORC and Class 3

Gave out lots of calendars and club membership forms to people who were interested in coming to watch

Even had a Guess the weight of the boat competition to raise money for the Scouts and Guides new headquaters and the chance to win a remote controlled boat.

Here are a few pictures from today!

1. The kids all enjoyed trying out my seat
2. Intense discussions about the weight of the boat
3. Our display boards and very popular videos
4. Easy to put on its side... but wasnt so easy to get it straight again

Well done all, we know how long the day can be and good to see you had great interest too.

We'll be at the Sportsboat show in Soton on the 22/23rd of May, be good to get some recruits there too.

Cheers
