Canopy situation for class 3c

Just to bring you all up to speed on this issue, as you all know the Itallian federation had put forward a proposal to the UIM to make canopies compulsory in class 3c. This proposal was rejected by Comminoff and was also rejected at the general assembly.

As the Itallians had put this proposal forward 2 years on the trot it can not raise it's head again for 3 years, so if you were worried about this issue you can now relax for another 3 years.

So we have our so called uim representitives who vote on things that effect the grass roots racing and they dont ask anybody eles opinion on new rules. They make up their own minds on what WE want without asking us!!! Fecking typical. Italy looks a good place to race next year.

Once again you are misinformed.

The canopy issue in Class 3 has been looked at by RYA Safety & Technical Committee because ORDA were concerned that should canopies become compulsory that it would have devastated the Class 3 fleet in the UK. Most of the boats could not have been retrofitted - therefore they would have become obsolete.

It was your own club who requested the UK delegate at the UIM (ie me) to vote against compulsory canopies in Class 3C.

This is exactly what I did.

Your statement is unfair, incorrect and unjustified.

I did not take it upon myself to make the decision - it was a request made by ORDA for the good of the sport in the UK.

Gary, Stick, wrong end!!! If you read what I had written you would not have answerd as you did. Read Marcus's reply. I was talking about a rule change that was disscused between CREWS at the worlds in Italy this year. We ALL decieded that a minimum crew wieght in 3c should brought into being, the same as 3b. There was a paper circulated and signed by crews and passed to the UIM commisoner, Harry, from finland. that we wanted a minimum crew wieght in the class. Nothing to do with canopies. So I have my facts right and you are in the wrong, shooting from the mouth again!!!!!!!

And for your information, Mr Manchester, I support ORDA'S stance on canopies in 3c and I am not misinformed in anyway.

OK Chris

1 - this thread is to do with Canopies. No mention was made of weight. It was just to let you all know that Canopies had not been made compulsory for Class 3C.

2 - I am not a so called "UIM Representative" I am the UK UIM delegate for offshore and just for the record I was voted in by all the World's Offshore nations unaminously ie I got a 100% vote at the UIM election.

One of the major criticisms within UK Powerboat Racing is that UIM and RYA activities are not transparent. The sport at grass root levels is uninformed.

I am busting a gut to change this and keep you all abreast of current situations and rule changes. What is wrong with this?

If you want to be updated on rule changes and have comments to make you can PM, email or phone me. This constant battering on an open forum is killing the sport.

Gary.

Piss taking aside, if the calculation is based on overall rig weight inc crew, it seems reasonable.
