Id heard some great big fat fella and his mates hang about in studded leather shorts and waistcoats with leather caps on their heads, looning at the innocent "Normal" men as they walk past minding their own business. This guy is known to have a big appetite for kebabs and boys, and apparently builds boats in his spare time!

Still, i suppose i should take gossip with a pinch of salt.

Right ok then Jon,

1,Must not be a production boat of any kind.
2,Must not be made yet.
3,Must be contructed with STUFF.
4,It will be raced on a inshore conditions.
5,Will not require RYA approval.
6,Outboard power only (with a max to be stated)
7,Will be run before the brass Monkey Race, ( so 5 months to prepare)
8, Crew ( to be clarified if any other than driver should be included)
9,The finish line MUST be crossed by the boat and not swam if all goes wrong.

Here is the start, now could others add their ideas here, try not make it too easy for me to win though,

Now we are talking

you've got the idea, and more affordable.
Scott reckons Drivers to The Hamble and back with some one checking the turn buoy,
All boats / floating items to have Boatmad livery on either side, for the local papers pictures.

Me and my neighbours set up a challenge earlier in the year whilst on a very dull and slow Channel crossing fueled by plenty of lager. The challenge is to ride a moped from Calshot to Cowes! It doesnt matter what you do to the moped as long as its ridden from the Pub down to the slipway and into the water and motored across the Solent and then up the slipway in Cowes and to the Pub.

I don't think it should be inshore. it's 'easy' to make a fast & reliable boat for a lake.

Bring on the waves.

PS, keep counting Tim.

I fink our Jons clicked on ere, cos he knows i've got the perfect wooden weapon for the flat.
Ok, switch tactics, get some rules set where, when and a sensible budget and i'm still in, but engines not to big though cos we what a good turnout,
I am away for a week with work so i'll not see what happening but whatever i'm still up for it Scotland V England.

I wasn't thinking of your cat. I thought we were going for the 'build it from 'stuff' rules. not sure a competition circuit cat would be very fair against a bathtub racer!

Offshore is where it at. It's a boat breaker and would sort the men from the boys.

If we keep the hp down, this will make it more affordable to get more involved, as 100 hp limit would drive the price of yam 90's through the roof for the next 4 months in the UK.
I was thinking more in the lines of 40-50 hp so if you have to built a boat it do not have to be super strong, and the size would be a lot smaller i.e more chance of sinking.

Spot on Gazza, it needs to be fun first, serious racing with high (ish) HP engines already exists.

Lets just have fun and ultimately increase the chances of some sinkage!!!

Up to 50hp strapped on the back of some home-made tub would be fantastic fun all round.
