Bob that is a serious lesson to any powerboat crew on how to set a boat in motion. Jeepers that boat just doesn't move, porpoise or anything; it looks sooooo smooth. Well done to whoever set it up (I guess it was you boys?) but also a real credit to the boat designers to be that stable at 103.

Fantastic bit of footage
Cheers

Dock racer

Looking at http://malcolmsphoto.fotopic.net which shows the coniston snaps, also to be seen hurtling round Barrow Docks is the old Forgecraft,`Mercury Racing`after 10yrs absence from the CIII scene. It reminds me when Alf Bullen took his Avenger 19 `Wicked Alf` to race in the Paris 6hr back in the late sixties.
So all we need now is for some old Stapleys,Marshans,Rings and of course Phantoms to maintain the trend???

What livery did Mercury Racing start out in?

I bumped into Dennis Clemson down at Drivers on Saturday who is trying to track down his old Forgecraft (The original Lucas Brothers hull) - He had heard it is sitting in a barn somewhere.

Wasn't his the 'Absolute Beginers' hull? different to the others (well, they were all 'different' but that first one was very different, wider, heavier, etc, etc)

That ended up in the hands of Tony Lewis's son I thought.

Yes - that was what I was thinking.

After 'Le Gopher' became Roy Smiths' first venture into class 3C.

So only 4 3C Forgecraft were ever built? Interesting.

Do not even want to think about the Heavy Metal boat - my neck still hurts.

Crossley was Peter Listers i seem to remember then Dave Sheldon (Multispark) the Matt Gardiner Mercury

Tuffnells and Brut was Jonathon Lucas but we knew that anyway, Alexi was Jeremy Watts, i thought Penthouse was a Frode (Penpromo's old Frode Suzi's Frode) and not a Forgecraft but i could be wrong.

No Dave was from Chandlers Ford and Adrian Carter his navigator was from Hayling Island.

Another Legopher was the last Forgecraft that Richard and Jonathon built and was 23Foot and slightly different bottom to the 3 previous Forgecrafts that we built before it.

Didn't it have a vented pad?

Remember Richard talking about it.
