Just got back from Coniston, mission of a drive back to plymouth.
Old Beardy set the mono EPA record at 82.76mph, (very twitchy, few sideways moments in the previous runs).
First time i've ever been to a records week, but have to say, one hell of an experience, shame we couldn't stay longer. Hats off to the organisers, ran very smoothly, can't wait until next yr

that was 77.3mph, in the second run = World record

Coooooooookeeeeie gets monohull outboard immersed propellor 91mph+ as well as the blowup tender record at 90mph+ - then blew his gearbox.

I would say that the offshore boys ( and a few girls ) were the main part of the event this year till we all left on Tuesday...

We did most of the runs and most of the records...

I am very happy!! As Alex has previously stated it was great fun, well organised and a great experience. We saw 84.2 one way on the GPS and we were going sideways!! The prop was walking about all over the place. On another occassion a gust of wind picked us up and moved us 10ft across the lake at over 82. Almost time to put the bike clips around the ankles and mop up the stains on the seat!
Our GPS tied up within 0.1mph of the speeds they were giving us from the timing gear, which was encouraging. Shame we could only stay for 2 days but I had no more holiday left. I think with a bit more teeth clenching (and buttocks), we might have got to 83 but realistically I think that would have been it.
Special thanks to Burty and Cookee for the loan of their gearboxes.
Had one of the hottest curries I have ever had on Monday night so Tuesday morning we were running a little lighter!!

It felt fairly stunning as well - I think everyone had a sideways moment or two. On Wednesday morning Jeremy in his Bernico made it from one side to the other of the lake due to a particularly strong gust of wind!

We are over the moon with the two records, I would agree with Ian about the GPS speeds, very accurate over the Kilometre. Just got work out a way of getting a Gold star now!

Nope.

I have never broken a National or World record at Conniston prior to this last week. I equelled Ricky Hills record in 2005, but did not break it. I finally broke the National record at Poole in 2006, but never betered that time at Conniston.

I reckon a 300 drag tuned up a bit will get me going a bit faster - hey Jon what would another 50hp get me speedwise?
