indeed tony, but he's not paying for the fuel and hospitality of those boats and crew as they are at cowes.

No wonder the sports in decline.

I'm normally the last person to defend the RYA/race organisers etc, but if you think 137.50 is too expensive, then you really need to take up another sport!

Oh great, thanks a lot. "There ain't no safety cover at St. Cats" There used to be, I don't know what has happened since 2005, but I WAS involved in Safety & Rescue of the Cowes Classic etc from 1987 - 2005 and know you are wrong.
These tin-pot courses are not OFFSHORE racing! 16 laps to do 70 miles - OK for OCR but come off it, that's not really offshore. IIIC & D used to do 70 miles in 3 LAPS. And on the rare occasions that something actually broke on the race boats- they would try to fix it themselves. Not expecting a tow because they had laddered their tights. Or whatever the latest excuse is...
"Safety safety we need a tow, one of our engines has blown up"
"One of them, what is wrong with the other one?"
"Oh, our boat is really difficult to steer on one engine"
So much for the last resort.

Yeh, you can spend that on a couple of rolls of wire, a bag of crimp connectors and a rubber chicken.

To run around the island 'solo' and get it offically timed costs IRO £2200. So the £137.50 entry fee to get it officially timed is a bloody great bargain!

Hi All
Just some information for you all!!!!
Firstly the Round The Island and Class 3c/V24/Rib Race instructions with entry forms should be posted on the RYA webiste tomorrow afternoon.
Entries for the round the island will be accepted on the morning of the race provided you have reported to race control by 9am slightly earlier if you can. I may well still have my face pack and curlers in but hey nothing like a shock to get you all going.
Entries for the class 3c/V24/ Ribs must be in by the 22nd Aug
If you need to know anything else let me know
Look forward to seeing you all at Cowes
Regards
Denise
