CTC Race

Before anyone gets too excited or upset, I have requested that The Race Safety Officer, other safety officers involved, & The RYA give the 'official view' on suitability or otherwise of V-24 boats to cover the CTC Race course.
As Jim says, we all wish (Powerboat P1 & BPRC), to have the most entries & especially, for the event to be a successful & enjoyable one for all.

Do you not need a pilots licence for them.

I would love to see how they perform in the rough with the big boys.

Find a flying club and maybe they will provide cheap cover.

Re Cowes/Torquay/Cowes

Hi Everyone.

Just to advise one & All, that at this Wednesday's meeting of the Race Organising Committee of the CTC Race, The Race Safety Officer will make the FINAL decision about course/es for V24 boats in this race.
After all, its very much a safety-related matter as to where the boats are allowed to race, in that, unlike a one-off single boat doing a passage across the channel, at the skippers own risk; in a race, someone else [the organisers] take up that risk, in official terms.
The main concern for a safety officer where any canopy fitted boat is concerned, is the one of...
'How quickly can he get a safety asset to the scene of an incident - in particular, a diver'
Therefore, the SO has a duty of care to all crews of such vessels, & thereby has an influence on where he can cover them, which of course decides the geography of their race course.
There WILL, as I have stated before, be a race for the V24 boats currently out on the circuit this year.
Details should be available later this week.
Don't forget - whatever type of boat you envisage entering - there is a cut-off date [not too far away now - see P1's web-site], so get your entry in ASAP - PLEASE !!!

CTC Race

Not too sure on that question - but I'll ask if, once final decision is made, that an immediate posting on the CTC section of the P1 website is made.
As to late entries - probably will be accepted, but thats just my guess, not a final decision, so don't count on it !

I wouldn't get involved Martin, P1 are running the show and from the feedback in Tunisia I have had this evening 3 x P1 boats are entered.

You are aware that P1 boats are able to enter the CTC and several of them are fully 100% 501 rule canopied boats. There is absolutely no difference between a P1 canopied boat and a V24 canopied boat with the notable exception that there are FOUR recorded overturnings of a V24 boat in a race and in each single occasion the crew self extracted - a 100% record of safety in self recovery......

Also that the UIM specification for the V24 powerboats is that they are designed to race in open, unprotected waters......

Would a representitive from the V24 camp be allowed to address the Race Organising Committee?

Tricky

I have just downloaded the entry form for CTC and Class 9 is listed as V24, is this a turnaround of previous decisions or am I missing something?

the decision to disallow V24's from participating was made last week, the entry form was avalable for the past few weeks.

The decision is a reversal of the original decision. The new decision is based on alighning the CTC classes to fit in with the RB08 classes, and the V24's were excluded from the RB08, so they will now be excluded from the CTC.

This was always my worry - see my postings in the RB08 thread. People with loads of self interest and power in the hierarchy of racing made rule changes to the RB08 rules to suit their own interests. These are now being accepted ad defacto rules for all future racing, propergating the self interest of a few. These same people are now trying to impose these rules on every race that will take place in future.

C/T/C Race

As I stated earlier, there will be a mtg of the CTC RACE ORGANISING COMMITTEE regarding, among a great many other things, the course details for the V24 boats WHICH WILL BE RACING AT COWES.

There will be a V24 Race at Cowes, The Race Safety Officer, who has the final say on what is acheivable, safety wise, & which therefore decides which boats race where, will advise the Organising Committee, on his decision on safety for the whole event, & V24 boats will be included in that.

If anyone actually belives the silly rubbish being posted on this forum by certain persons, that the CTC Race Organisers are deciding the future of V24 boat racing, then maybe they ought to 'get real' & be patient enough to await the outcome.

Please, those of you who are actually racing V24 boats this year, do not allow yourselves to get swayed by these persons.
The 'silly season' is obviously in full swing - wait for the facts, not juvenile games being played by those with nothing better to do !
