one would have thought frozen was a better option.
So the record in fact should be "4ltr outboard with restricted water pick ups" rather than "4ltr all comers" as one would expect.
Thanks for clearing it up Johnny

Geoff helt it at 100.24mph with remote pickups, then went back and ran 94mph for the new record.
if geoff ran 94 for new record, then you must have to go slower to gain a record .

Hutch not knocking it mate. Just an observation that it's slower than it was and there is no record of the previous record passed out of sight from man and the books

The list of historical records includes every British speed record set since the 1930's, including Class 3 / 4 Litre which was originally established by Fred Shaw in 1970.

I thought he did, in about '97, mebbe it was 92mph, or 93mph. oh well, who cares, it was years ago.

You sure the minimum weights didn't change or something, that would render any old record null & void and open the door to a new one.

He's been telling me all season that he was going to crack the 100 mph!

Must be saving a bit for later in the week.

Well now the web site is fully updated it seems the new outboard immersed propeller record is now at 86.92mph

Its a shame Ross didnt go cus they could have beaten that by 11mph no problems!
just such a shame his prop didnt arrive in time cus he wouldnt have wanted to rev his engine too much at 98 and 94 at 500 rpm before the limiter wouldnt have smashed the record by enough so there was no point going.

I do. When we arrived at Conniston the National record had not yet been ratified. It has now been ratified.

I beat Ricky Hills record at Conniston anyway - even though it was just one run - and I did it with a 100kg mechanic trying to figure out an engine problem, and not with the light as a very light thing naviguessor I usually run the boat with.

The process to authenticate and declare the record valid is a long one, and the record can only be published once it is official. The pier to pier record is at the UIM for ratification. I believe it has now been ratified, and I will scan the certificate when it arrives.

Geoff Purves held it at 100.24mph with remote pickups, then went back and ran 94mph for the new record.
I will get the certificates from Geoff and scan them and post them, and we can determine exactly what dates and times who did what. I remember telling me he hit over 100 with the remote water pickup, and he lost about 8mph when they removed them a year later.
