Off Beachy Head we should achieve a maximum speed of 9.81M/second

Not being pedantic or anything but isn't it more likely to achieve that off the crane

I would think when sinking through water it will be a lot slower

The 3A's were available as options with large or small shaft., I think the 4's & 5's were all large, as are the 6's.

Mine is the small shaft, with crescent leading edge (later style lower unit casing style, like yours)

OK, back to businness...

This is a little more complex and I'd need to get it past a few people first! especially the 13 litre M3 bit.

It would certainly be a snug place for a 435+ hp engine (amongst mainly 4.2 litre 315 hp Yanmars), but as I've proposed to reduce M3 to 13 litres, the 5.5 litre Volvo D6 would fall in with the 5.8 litre Yanmar 440/480's and FPT/Cummins 5.9 litre 480's.

It's hard to ignore the fact that the Yanmar 4.2 litre 315hp diesel was probably the most popular (and reliable) engine used in RB08, it kinda deserves it's own class purely on that merit and would create a very competitive class.

I'm still not certain if the Goldfish Dmax 380's have much in the way of external modifications, if they do, they'll be forced to run in M3.

I think the confusion might be that the D6 is a quoted example motor for M4, but excluded by capacity.
Apologies if I misread.

From the Goldfish website:

Technically the injection pump is reconfigured to achieve a different fueL. and timing curve, the turbocharger is modified for larger airflow, valve timing is optimised for improved engine breathing with more.

OK Jon. You and the Scorpions need your own class(M4)

Hm...The M7 looks like it´s made for me

C'mon Mikko, that comment's not fair.

As apposed to having your own class to yourself! (M4)

The 315's are quite unique in their popularity and deserve a decent playing field that's 'level'. Our move to M4 is still far from definite, you definitely have 5.5 litre motors and at 435hp (and soon to 500 you tell me) they definitely outclass the 4.2 315hp Yanmar. Is that how you want it, a string of hollow victories.? and in the same breath you critisise Buzzi for rule fixing, we're just trying to get this thing as fair as we can.

Yes, I wondered how long it would take someone to spot that!

Fixed.
