There was a meeting of some of the RIB crews at the Exe Powerboat and Ski Club last night, and after discussing the new Formula 200 class we have decided to join the party and raise a few points before the season starts, although the general feeling was that it should be a great leg up for powerboat racing and we want to help!

I'm sure I speak for all the other crews in thanking Richard Strawford for not only taking the time to go to the meetings but for organising to meet us last night and keep us up to date with the latest developments.

As far as the calendar is concerned it appears the possible Torquay date (the one after Cowes) is concerned - it has been removed - and there is a possibility of going back to Cardiff and all racing inside - with a heat / knockout type system - should be fun!

Some of the points raised are that -

Only points are awarded when the classes race together

Races are run when it is safe to do so at the discresion of the safety officer and not whether some crews want to race or not

We retain the RIB podium trophies

For information we will still be running the RYA National and BIBOA Championships, and this will be an additional one.

I'm sure there were a couple more things and I'll post them as soon as I remember (must write things down!)

One last thing - would it be possible to have a RIB or BIBOA section for the RIBS Jon?

If anyone has any questions I will try to answer them or find out!

OK, i've added a section for BIBOA, but NO FKKN CONSOLE CHANGES, or DRLLIN OLES....right!

But seriously now, I would think most, if not all RIB-racers, would use RIBnet, or BIBOA's own site, rather than venture over here, so I reserve the right to remove it if it's not getting used.

Cookee, I think what was agreed at the meeting was
1/ If we all raced together only the 1st 3 f200 class boats could take line honours.
2/ The podium for these would take place striaght after the race before boats were craned out.
3/ Podium presentations for other sub classes would take place later so as not to confuse Joe public.
If you've got a black thing hanging off your transom you can be seen to win. If not you'll have to meet your adoring public at a latter date/time. This is more for the the black smoke turbo brigade than 2 strokes.

Thank you for that Chris - Luckily Richard was at the same meeting, I presume you mean the Evinrude rather than OMC? If it's 200 hp then it fits into the RIB rule, so therefore it should be eligible for F200?

We are aware that the deisels will not be eligible for F200 as they aren't exactly 200 hp.

I am assuming there will still be a Class 3 national championship?

Isn't that like saying:.. "I presume you mean the Mercury, rather than the Brunswick product?".

(I know OMC doesn't exist anymore, and he should have said 'Bombardier', but we all think of em as OMC's)

Ok guys maybe I was being a little picky - but then again I'm sure Chris deserves it for some reason I can't think of right now! So is someone going to come up with a rule to ban the 200 HO in F 200?
