strap loads of fenders to your trailer (and I mean loads) and tow it over with the batboat!

Then they can crane it out, and crane your boat onto it.

wight link do some good deals, especially if you come over at night (cheapest was a ring 21 we brought accross at about 2 in the morning!)
Red Funnel is the only one who comes straight to Cowes, so with the others you'll have about 40mins - 1hour's drive (the island's roads aren't kind to your trailer)
Think the best thing to do is phone wight link as opposed to using the booking forms online...

Actually - there is another way....

Club together, and trail a trailer with three or four trailers loaded onto it. Then boat over. The guy who tows the trailers over splits the bill with those who shared the load. Then in Cowes, split the trailers up.... You get the picture..

I dont like a long term immersion of the trailer in the sea.

Or just drive the boat over still strapped to the trailer!

A friend of mine used to store his boat on windermere that was inaccesable by road, he used to launch at ferry nab with boat still strapped to trailer and sail round to storage site.
He didn't half get some funny looks.

will be ringing round tomorrow to see what kind of deal there is to be done - don't think too many people will mind having a wightlink or red funnel sticker on their boat if it means money off on ferry worked well in guernsey did't it??

have got my travel sorted (thanks wightlink and dyno) but for others i have emailed red funnel to see if they can do anything for group bookings
but individually car inc 4x4 and small vans (5.5m) plus 3 adults and 8m trailer (inc boat) from soton to cowes £101.48 return going about 7pm each way
all larger vehicles are charged at commercial rate so have to add vat so van plus 9 m trailer £250 plus vat
these are cheaper than wightlink but you still have to drive round the river better than getting stuck on the chain ferry from east to west cowes
hope this helps
as i said i am awaiting a return from my email regarding group bookings with possible sponsorship from red funnel
charlie

I generally get better deals on Red Funnel - but when using Wightlink I use a 'caravan special'. This allows a certain length of trailer and then pay the extra for a longer trailer.

Time restriction apply.

Maybe different from the other side!
