Good Luck BuzziBullit

Here's wishing Jan & Drew the best of british luck with their appeal at P1 KBL tomorrow morning.

I wonder how many british safety boats P1 will be able to get this year at Cowes?? just a thought!!

I see on the P1 site a decision has been made, like everyone I obviously wished Jan & Drew the outcome would be a good one for them, I see they are allowed to race but can collect no points very unfortunate, should they be at Cowes with the other British teams I am sure they will have people's support. PS...it would be great in super sport if the first 3 boats were Brit one's

I dont get it?

You can race, but you cant get points? What is the point? Or am I missing something? If they win, then they will say its because they are non-complient with the rules....?

From the P1 site:

"The Committee finds that the spirit of the SuperSport rules require that boats in SuperSport class have pilot and co-pilot side by side in the boat and that this should be clarified in the rules going forward. "

FFS! Talk about making the rules up as you go along.

To be fair you have to say the Buzzi looks like a raceboat and not like a regular powerboat. In my opinion the boat is definitely a a boat for Evolution Class and not a supersport. Not correct ist to say post season the boat is o.k. to race in supersport class and than banning it. Thats a bad sign for anyone with a limited budget to race P 1 if you do not know if you buy a boat to race or to waste... your money.

Be real good to Jan & Drew racing in P1 again, shame about the points though.

I pulled out of Cowes P1, due to KBL telling me that next year only 4 stroke outboards would be allowed, due to enviromental reasons. Yesterday KBL told me that I should not make rash decisions as they are reconsidering the ouyboard situation.

KBL need to seriously think things through before making RASH decisions, as it costs their enthusiaistic amateur compeditors lots of money. They will kill it if they are not careful.

@Kinpacifist
Have been in Travemünde with your boat? Seems to be very fast.

The point you are missing is that they are true racers, When you can race, you race. It's about testing yourself against others. It's about standing on the podium, points are a bonus.

After loosing points from 6 races playing catch up would be impossible.

It would seem that they breached the spirit of the rules. As, if they sit side by side next year the boat would comply. I doubt this alteration will make much difference to the speed. Jan says that the boat is not that fast, however it will be very reliable.
So if they win at Cowes, it will be down to the superb British crew and a well prepared boat. I see their only unfair advantage coming from aerodynamics. But this advantage is negated by those big vertical wings on the back.

For the uneducated...these wings double as rudders when the boat turns over!!! I know that Jan & Drew are happy at the ruling for next year, as they are more comfortable racing side by side holding hands!!!!!!!!!!

But surely you would want to have some formal recognition. I would be gutted if I won most races and at the end of the year someone else who I beat most of the time gets awarded the champion status.....

This is not meant as a dig!!

You look for recognition & acceptance from others. I guess thats why you race from your previous posts.

Jan definitely & I think Drew too, where born to race & over achieve. They are daredevils, the last of a dieing breed of genuine British sportsmen that race for the personal challenge & have to prove something to themselves firstly & others recognition is secondly. They are in it for the challenge.

What does a few points mean to someone who holds 5 world records. You can be champion with the most points, if you have the deapest pockets. Thats OK. Crossing the atlantic in a 7m rib has nothing to do with money. It takes real courage and commitment, that most of us including myself find immpossible to comprehend.

I think they have been treated very badly by P1 (politest way of saying it) & I personally would not spend good money of my own making P1 look better by running as a wild card for no points. However I have the uttmost respect for them personally and their decision. They have my support and admiration.

I hope that the pantie shield company that produces pantie shields with wings, sees a good opportunity, and sponsors them.
They deserve some good luck.
