Guernsey 2007 ferry

Anyone thinking of coming to this years race who HAS NOT sent in confirmation And deposit money has until this weekend (sun23 march) at the latest to confirm or the ferry booking will not be guaranteed for this event.(ONLY 2 SPACES LEFT) promises are not good enough.!!
Also all racers are reminded that RYA license applications must be countersigned by RYA affiliated clubs prior to submitting to racing dept. For ORDA members :This can only be done after membership subs have been paid for current year Jan-Dec 07.
Thanks.

So if three new people decide to take up powerboat racing this year, one of them will be prevented from attending the first set of races? The RYA have not even opened the book on the National Championships for 2007 and ORDA is closing the entries already?

Marc, after your fantastic offer to basic racers in Burryport all I can say is that if 3 NEW crews want to enter the guernsey event we will give up our place on the ferry and pay full price for the crossing so the odd 1 out can go with the cheaper crossing. Everybody else knew that entries had to be in by
1st March so the logistics could be sorted for the event.

Marc thank you for being so eager to support the event with your wonderful words, those that want to race and who have shown an interest are aware of the need to have their applications in, we have 25 spaces on the ferry and have confirmed bookings for 23 boats and tow vehicles, we have people who have said they want to come but have not confirmed. the first post is asking for those people who have said they are coming to confirm with their booking deposits of £50 to secure the cheaper ferry travel. I have not ever mentioned in the posting that we will not accept entries and I am sorry if it gave anyone the chance to think so.......
we are trying to sort out the event early so that everyone knows what is going on asap and can prepare, take time off, etc and would appreciate any help by getting the applications in on the required date.
These 25 boats will have subsidised travel and of course we welcome those who wish to make their own arrangements, indeed we have several boats making their own way there but it would be nice if we knew so that we can arrange space in the very tight pit area, or mooring if appropriate.
Hope this clears up any confusion for those who were confused!

Is there no way Charlie that we could move the Pits down to St Peter Port, as i personally feel that it is a better location and more space? More people as well....

The people of St Peter Port value their north beach car park more than seeing it used as a powerboat pit area. In years gone by the Guernsey GP poured millions of £'s into local clubs, pubs and hotels etc. We are small cheese compared. The best 3c event was the 97 worlds when we had the use of the yacht club and the model boat pond!!!!!!

For the Worlds next year, the pits will be in St Peter Port I believe.

Just to let you know The Guernsey event is organised by the Guernsey Powerboat Association and ORDA,
the event was held at St sampsons last year and a will be held there this year,to bring Powerboat racing back to the islands without controversey and also by holding it there we had goverment backing.(As CB said parking is very precious to the Guernsey people)
This year also there will be more people about, it has been publicised a lot more as we have had the backing of the media, because the event was such a sucess last year,
We have raised the profile back to where people want to see powerboat racing back in the island.
The next years event will be held in St Peter Port.
So come and enjoy the real offshore courses and hospitality
We look forward to seeing you all .

Kevin
