Having done that Wednesday night series for a few years the skill was knowing how Chris calculated the handicap and not how fast could I drive the boat.

Would we have the same situation that they have, or at least had, in rally driving where a car sits 10 feet from the finish line looking at a stopwatch.

It might me eariser to travel through a mine field in Iraq than creating the handicap rules. Good Luck!

Probably could have worded it better - It robbed me of a chance of winning the Championship, I would rather have lost on the water than because I wasn't allowed to get any points because of the rules and a no show!

C class had at least 8 boats in CTC and 3 or 4 at Weymouth - I think it was one of, if not the largest fleet at Cowes and certainly at Weymouth. So dont think C class is necessarily the problem.

I am working on a single engine concept for the E-class, will not be racing this year, but want to be ready for the water for next year.

Blue - Absolute - C7 (DNS Cowes 100, R CTC)

Birretta - C12 (R Cowes 100, DNS CTC)

Going Lean II - C 17 (R Cowes 100, DNS CTC)

So, C class looks healthier than I thought, leaving probably E & D low on numbers, and hopefully Cookee & Zed will each bring the two classes up by one entry this year, thus helping enormously.

Not sure there's a good argument for handicapping in that case.

I totally agree - It causes confusion to the entrants, & as for any spectators (Including sponsors), well ... ... ... !!!

The only mildly sensible handicap race is one (usually on a circuit), where the boats start off at graduated times, & if the handicapper gets it right, they all finish together. This type of event was run by R.Sn.Y.C., & R.M.Y.C. in the 1960's but went out of favour. Wonder why !
