To answer your questions and i can understand that you really want to know.

1) 39 members

2) Hotboats racing association is still going

The Hotboats series was launched to encourage people to come back with boats that did not fit into any other class. It didn't work lessons were learnt.
Unfortunatly Gary listened to other people who said that they wanted to race, but their boats did not fit into any classes, they were either too big or to powerful.

As it turned out after a lot of hard work it was all in vain, however sometimes you do these things with the very best of intentions and learn the hard way!!!
Oh well thats life you dust yourself down and try again.

Regards

Denise

Thank you Denise for that. The reason i asked is because I wanted to know how many rank and file members, ie racing members, your assoc represents. This was asked because your club seems to hold a hell of a lot of power on committes at the rya and i was wondering what your remit from your racing members was. By the way how many current racing members have you got?

2.5 singles- phantoms, rings, ect & reduce the LOA to capture as many boats as possible, was the one thing the orignal idea didn't take into account & they dont fit any existing structure & that possibly is the largest pool of fast intrested parties out there.

I can see what your saying and it would seem on the face of it that Hotboat people as you call us are on a lot of committees, but that is not the case.

The reason for this is that when you sit on these committees you are not there to represent a club the only committee where this is the case is clubs and classes who have representives from all clubs.

I was a delegate on RAM and course Approvals before Hotboats, and Gary was chairman of RAM and Course Approvals etc again before Hotboats.

Unfortunatly there are few people who have the time due to other committments to volunteer for these positions and that is in no way a slur on anybody. We all have lives outside Powerboat racing, me personally would like to see more people bringing their wide knowledge and experience to these committees.

As i see it when you sit on any committee you are there for the whole of the sport, you can not bring your own club into it as no matter how you look at it no One club can make decisions that effect the whole of the sport and no One club is more important than another.

Lets be honest about this Powerboat racers, clubs, and officials are passionate about the sport we all want it to be seen in the best posible light and grow. From a personal point of view i love you all, you frustrate the hell out of me at times but that will never stop me trying to help in any way i can even if it means traveling miles and standing in the pouring rain.I am sure that i don't always get it right but i am still learning.

I hope you can see where i am coming from and i like many people do not know all the answers otherwise i would know the 6 lotto numbers for Weds nights draw and you would be able to contact me on route to Barbados.

Regards

Thanks for your candid and truthfull reply. The problem i have, and please correct me if i'm wrong, but Brian is the only current racing member on the orc. So where does the committe get their views from. Brian only has 1 vote and he races, so he can be out voted very easaly by the establishment and the only losers are the racers.

I think that the ORC committee has a few racers they may not always be successful, and no i do not race that i leave to the experts as my navigation would leave a lot to be desired as there are no Tesco's on the course.

Again i think that Bluefin has a point we are really all on the same side, we all want the sport to grow but our views differ on how that can be acheived. That does not mean that those views are wrong and hold no merit.

I think that tonights conversation has brought up some good points and maybe you guys need to talk to Gary or who ever you wish to to see how this can be moved forward. At the end of the day without you there is no racing!!!!

Regards
