Well until the rest of SAT pick up the message, dunno where the change of heart has come from? the only official responses have come from me and the ORC chair at present.
Tho not a techie, as long as safety is not compremised in the event, class or course I would presume it'll go through. Watch this space.....

Hi Bob
Answer is simple and thank you for asking.
The reason is that the dirty engines weigh less than the clean Ones, and this has been done to encourage people now or in the future to run clean engines. The people running dirty engines can continue to do so for as long as they can keep them going.

Surely engine weight's gotta be irrelevant, unless you have a different minimum boat weight based on engine class?
A boat weighing x with y propshaft horsepower doesn't give a hoot how much the engine weighs - it's the "package" weight.

Hi All
We have put a huge amount of work into getting these rules passed, the rules as you see them now are as it is they are set in stone.
There can be no more debate you can please some of the people some of the time, most of the people most of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.

So you run your old 'dirty' engine and take a hit performance wise, or you run the 'clean' engine, and benefit....

clean or dirty
in class 3 we have a weight penalty for clean ,< epa > engines its 70kilos ,i thought it was because they use less fuel. you are a third better off.Quite a weight saving!!
