Beer racing with a handicapped so all boats can run together once a fortnight. No entry fee no license needed just a couple of safety boats a diver. All sorted out by our self's.
If we need medics well we can Just rent one . this would not be a club and we the driver's vote for a course . the responsibility of these meets , are all the racers responsibility. So if something does go wrong we can only blame ourselves.
Now if we want to to start up again this would be so easy to do , and there are a good few people out there that could help us the drivers do this .
I for one will be happy racing like this , cheaper , we make our own decisions ,

Any one have any thoughts on doing something like this or would be up for it , give it go

Or is this miles away from the real world ?? .

Seriously mate i would really forget this idea. Its all fun untill someone gets hurt and someone ends up in the dock. It was not until a bad accident a few years ago and we all found out the RYA insurence was not worth a wank and only the we found out we had to get 3rd party insurance.

And yet there was still people prepared to race and organise un insured events.
Bad idea matey.

you dont need insurence to have a neet up with mates but its when someone gets hurt or something is damaged and someone has to be held accountable.
I am happy to be corrected on this.

If someone sinks your boat do you want them to pay for it?

I am talking about full blown racing here, so taking into account how official you want to be. if anyone can shed light on this area it may open up options?

No , I understand the risks , I'll fix my boat and you fix yours. That's racing you don't have to take part if things like that worry you . just trying to think out side the box , like some one said back to basics .

Just a thought .. but how does the Exmouth "new years day" rally work ? as RYA Licences must have expired at midnight 31/12/?? , Clearly looks like proper race format but without all the rules..

No !! We already have 3rd party insurance through the RYA.
Although your own individual boat insurance covers you if you are not Racing !!

So bad idea taking it in to our own hands and running it our self's . keep what we got then and complain like mad and be unhappy but won't do anything to change it . or we get rid of all the clubs bar 1 and have sub clubs under the main club . but I'm sure that would never happen , we have to many clubs/class that don't seem to get on .

Its been like that for years with no problem. my first race was a basic racw but unless i am mistaken, for national racing you can not go straight in to 200hp entries. 150 hp max? mind you, that does not mean you dont get idiots in 1800 or 1300cc classes.

If we was all running it we get to chose who can race , we can also do mock races for new people till we was happy to race with them . is any of this that hard ?
We go out testing we go out racing about with our mates anyway.

Is that not what you have now, with the RYA as the 1 club?

This is what we have recently tried to do. Unfortunately the clubs did not get to the point of asking racers and simply dismissed the idea.

I don't think they really grasped what was being offered.

Result is that all the work that was done between Rhino and myself to pull together was undone and put back a few years.

The most encouraging is Guernsey, Ireland, France, etc. but there is the cost issue !

If anyone wants to go racing simply call or email me to enrol or stop wringing and get on with what we have. One thing that is certain is that information on open forums is and will kill uk racing in the near future.

Alternative is to take up the offer from P1SS !

For the record I am Racing this year at all events on the ocrda.org calendar even if I am on my own !
