Second race (today) was cancelled. Apparently by the coastguard who provide the safety, so they awarded the Europeans on the results of race 1. Surprise surprise ! So 1st and 2nd were Italian.
Ring any bells from Jesolo last year ?
Pete Little had a nasty accident in the pits on Friday after the first race when a spray can of something ignited when it fell onto the terminals of a spare battery. He suffered from burns to head and arms but will be out of the hospital tomorrow.
If it wasn't for bad luck this year, Pete wouldn't have had any at all.

They seem to have got that wrong.
When I was last at Viareggio they got a bit mixed up with our English names and kept calling him 'Little Peter' - which always got a laugh at briefing role call!

Why do they keep having the races in Italy? Are there no other locations for the races?

Get well quick pete, one for the story book. On refection that was a 1000 to 1 chance.
no eligibility protests I'm surprised at least two boats didn't comply to UIM rules including the winner
if you must then UIM rule 710.1
All numbers shall be plain and up-right.

The Italian drivers were furious at not being able to race as were the officials. Seems the CG boys didn't want to play. Still a good venue though. Looks like next year will be Naples. MMMMM.
