Looe Powerboat Race

Anyone fancy a Race ?? We are struggling for entries to next weeks Looe Powerboat Race.

So Far we have:
6 x OCR A
2 or 3 x 3c
Some x V24 (don't know how many)
1 x Formula 200

I am waiting to hear back from Honda Guys.

If any of you want to play please let me know what boat you have and we will do our best to include you although 3c / V24 size is about as big as we can accommodate.

Thanks
Bob

Yes until someone tells us otherwise !! But seeing as though the new rules require ratification by ORC and PBRC its unlikely we will see anything in near future.
Technically they are PB1 2005 + amendments to 2009 !!

Interesting !! Perhaps you or anyone that raced at either Allhallows or Stewartby could tell us what action you take when the race is Red Flagged ??

Bob
UK62 covers red flagging in our rules along with UK56(d) incident procedure and UK59 stoppin a race. from what I see each class should have the same front end PB1 i.e. general rules A-G supported by only that class/club rules at the back.

Bob
F44 STOPPING THE RACE
In case of force majeure or an accident, the race may be stopped by waving
red flags. This signal will be given from all official boats.

F48 FLAG SIGNALS

Red From Start Boat Start Aborted return to muster
From official boats Race stopped return to muster
Chequered At Finish line Race finished/curtailed

RED FLAG – on seeing the red flag signal, all boats shall stop racing immediately, and return at a safe speed to the muster area to await further instructions.

As you know Bob I agree that there are a significant number of errors, omissions, duplication and conflicts within the rules that have been provided. I also brought up all the points regarding lack of knowledge etc and we were still instructed by the RYA that we had to run the race to the PB1 2010 rules.

As mentioned previously I informed the RYA in writing of my concerns...I will send you my email that refers.

For our event we also had "training" ALL day on the Saturday in order to go through a number of elements including the rules and we also again clarified points at briefing.

Oops!! Apparently we are racing to 2010 rules !!

All Race organisers and club secretaries Ref PB1 2010

1. For the avoidance of doubt all offshore powerboat racing taking place during 2010 must be run to the new rules contained in PB1 2010

2. The new 2010 PB1 Rules are posted on the RYA web site and are now freely available

3. In addition to the above all competitors are being sent copies of PB1 2010 with their new licences so every competitor will be in possession of a copy of the new rules. Competitors who have already received their licences will be sent a copy of PB1 in the next few days

4. Competitors applying for Event Licences must be given a copy of the rules by the race secretary. The RYA will ensure sufficient copies are available prior to the event. (New rules governing the issue of Event Licences apply)

5. All RYA Officials will be sent a full copy of the 2010 rules, these will be distributed in order of race priority

6. NO RACING WILL BE PERMITTED UNDER ANY OTHER RULES, IF RACE ORGANISERS ATTEMPT TO APPLY OTHER RULES THE RYA WILL TAKE DISCIPLINARY ACTION AGAINST THE CLUB AND OFFICIALS INVOLVED. THE RYA WOULD ALSO REMIND ALL ORGANISERS THAT ANY EVENT NOT CONFORMING TO 2010 PB1 RULES WILL NOT BE APPROVED AND WILL NOT BE INSURED BY THE RYA.

John Puddifoot

RYA Powerboat Racing Manager
