The trophy was a token, no more.

Marex IS wonky

Marex IS heavy, which I suspect the works Chaudron isn't, or at least not nearly as.

I automatically Pooh Pooh the 'success' of the Marex team, because there hasn't been any success.

I don't applaud any success the chaudrom team have, for reasons you already know. they would have jack shit if they hadn't stolen it from Phantom in the first place.

As I've said before, when Chaudron have success in a boat they're designed and built from the ground up, I'll be the first to applaud them. But at the momment, that would mean them having such a craft, which they don't!

You, kinfast, and a few of his other croneys, choose to come to 'boatmad.com' of your own free will, may I suggest you stop doing that, then the rest of us can carry on happily here, without having to hear the 'C' word again.

Speaking of free will, everyone comes here on that basis, if they don't like it, now, or in the future, they can stop whenever they like, so you really don't need to worry about it on my behalf, thank you.

From the point of view of someone that doesnt know all the details of the Chaudron copying Phantom stuff (only read the stuff from the forum but got a good idea about it) those two boats look visually more than just similar...

Just a thought, but with Chaudron now racing the Phantom design, and having loads of publicity etc, would this not be a great time for Steve to get them barred from compeating? Also a nice time to get some court action?

I never knew Steve that well but a more quiet, thoughtful, polite bloke would be most difficult to find. He can step back and walk away which is a sign of great character.

Whatever happened to the mould. If I recall Alistair had them after the boat was made, are they still around and not been smuggled to Malta.

The tooling for the 31, as you say, belonged to Alan & Paul Baldwin and Alistair Kendon, though Steve says Alan was clearly the man in charge.
After the boat was completed for the '82 season, the tooling remained with Steve at the factory, tucked away at the end of the yard.
The Baldwins & Kendon lost interest in powerboating by the end of the '82 season after engine trouble with the 650 Keikheafer and the Baldwins went on to race cars.

The moulds sat at the end of the yard for about 13 years, eventually filling with water, distorting and being cut up and scrapped by Steve about 12 years ago.

No other boats were ever produced with the tooling, because Steve didn't own the rights to it, he was commissioned by the three (Baldwins & Kendon) to build it from the ground up.
As we know, Steve is neither Maltese, Dutch, or Belgiun, so he didn't feel the need to steal it.
Two years later, the all new 'PHANTOM 28' emerged from the workshop for the round Britain.
Whilst they look very similar, they are actually quite different in rail design etc.

The rest, as they say, is history.
