Monte-Carlo to Venice Speed Record Attempt.
At 09.00 continental time today, The Fabio Buzzi designed KeraKoll set off from Monte-Carlo (the Cowes Monte-Carlo finish line in 2013) on its Monaco to Venice nonstop 1,250 nm record attempt. That’s six Cowes Torquay Cowes races back to back – not for the feint hearted!
The record stands at 23hrs 55 mins. The crew of KeraKoll consists of Mario Invernizzi on throttles, Peter Dredge driving and navigating, Antonio Binda-Chris Engineer and AN Other.
I for one wish them good luck in their attempt at breaking the record, they are going to need it!
ML.

Just been advised that this attempt is back on and will start as from 07.30 continental time this morning (25th). Only one fuel stop 1,000 kilometres down track. Different props this time!!

Text just received; "At 1st fuel stop taking on 3,000 litres (i think) weather bad with heavy rain and 1.5 metre waves. Everything wet and getting mullered. Big push through the night needed".
I wouldn't want to be out there with them tonight, thats going to be horrible!

Record Broken - Official.
The record for the Monaco to Venice run has been broken by over 1.5 hrs. Peter Dredge and Mario Invernezzi in the FB designed 50ft KeraKoll finished the run in 22hrs 13 mins 17 seconds whereas the previous record was at 23hrs 55mins.
Well done to all on board, that must have been a tough run.

Indeed, and it has to be THE hot favourite if FB enters KeraKoll in the Cowes/Monte-Carlo - if there is room that is!

I have quite a few from when it ran in the 2008 Cowes-Torquay-Cowes (came 2nd behind FB) and include one from then and I also have one as it re-fuelled in Monaco last week - all attached.
It looks as thought there have been a few mods on the boat since 2008.

The fuel consumption for a boat of this size (48' granted not hull length) 'seems pretty respectable, and it must weigh in at over 6000KG+, therefore just over 1MPG at marathon racing speeds ticks the right box, although the CTC race would still cost more than £1,200 to race in this boat, ouch
