New P1 boat

Pretty damn fine looking boat I'd say for the money.

Rumours that's it around the £55K mark to go racing and includes a 300hp engine.

Got to say this pic looks much better than the slightly dodgy pre-release pic put up on here the other day.

I'm going to lease one and enter the series for £17,500!

I'm in!!

Thumbs down

It looks like the bastard child of a Gerry Anderson tv show prop and a cheap kids toy. Horrible.

De-capitated

I think the boat looks quite nice, but I'd hate to stuff in one as the screen edge looks ready to cut your head off.

I've heard Fountain were involved with the design. Seems to me it works out a touch more expensive than 55k once everything is considered, I just can't understand how P1 are going to justify selling these to people instead of the cougars.

One of the nice things about powerboats for me has always been that the ones out there racing look just like the ones people own and are often pretty much the same. This erm, thing, looks like an ugly F1 car compared to a normal car.

The new 28ft (8.5m) mono-hull powerboat can run two alternative horsepower options, allowing teams to move up in class by simply changing the engine. The smaller horsepower class will race at speeds of around 60mph, whilst the larger class will race at around 75mph.

There is a video as well, and Adam Younger has also pointed out that "it's running a bit wet" - in flat water it should be up and on it a little more than it appears to be otherwise the steps cannot do their job. It'll probably spin out quite easily as well if that much of the bow is planted in the water, but what do I know - they've spent lots of dollars on several continents designing the boat and even Fountain have allegedly been involved!

Shouldn't say too much our boat isn't even in the water yet!

Here's the video - you have to wade through the ads I'm afraid! http://www.youtube.com/user/Performa.../0/1WH38wt-Yh8

Look at the amount of trim too! It also looks to me as the prop could be lifting the stern aswell as design.
