The second one is for any monohull, not just a RIB, and was set with just me in the boat. Engine was a Mercury 2.5 Offshore rated at 280 HP on our race boat which was weighed at 970kg - photos to follow soon - here's one of the rig on the way back yesterday.

By the way the RIB record is basically the old Formula 1 RIB class, but up to 300 HP to allow our European friends race against us.

Well done Cookee.

So its the weight that is slowing me down on the runs. Replace the V8 with twin 280's......

It's 5.27 with the Volvo DPX & small block. But would most likely be a different number with OBs. might even be better, who knows.

All you need to do is build a small block, but be more realistic about the figure you want from it power wise.

450 would be a walk in the park, and that wee batboat would fly.......reliably.

My previous calculations said that to break the ton I needed 550hp. The new calculations show 545hp so not much in it.

Besides they said they could build a 650hp smallblock....

Mmm. Not familiar with a "series 3" - what is it?
Take a look at the blocks by world castings.

With 317hp on a Dory 13, the arse that will most likely get kicked, is yours.

Ever seen an over powered dory run? very scarey. You aint seen chine walking until you've seen a over powered dory go.

A mate of mine put an 85 Yam on a Dory 11. ferkin crazy.

We ran a Bernico 19 with a 300xs in Belgium a couple of weeks ago !! at a comfy GPS 90 mph.

I suspect a ss EFI would be much safer.

That's only the Monday runs - The final video will have the Tuesday runs in when we're going faster!

How fast are you going in the later runs on the Monday?
Looks like there was quite gusty wind blowing…are you posting the video from Tuesday?

It was windy on Monday - Tuesday was the best day, but still gusty - when driving over disturbed water it felt as if you were driving over rumble strips on the side of a motorway or worse!

All of the times are here: http://www.conistonpowerboatrecords....rs_times.shtml

Monday was using our Race Tempest prop with a 1.87:1 special gearbox (originally a Sportmaster), and Tuesdays was with a tweaked Raker - reduced diameter and less cupping to reduce bowlift - just two runs on Tuesday - we were going to try another prop that we didn't have a lot of hope in, but we had a seal fail on the gearbox!

Electric record

Hi
Does anyone know if Helen Loney set a new outright electric record ? I heard she did but it does not show up on the Coniston powerboat site.
