Offshore National Calendar 200

It is just the draft but looks like my first one will be Nov15 subject to the Met (bvack end of the island that time of year is hardly pussy heaven) so that takes a bit of pressure off getting ready for 2008. It would be Cancer but domestic issues prevent that one. I know it will be subject to change but race organisers I and suspect many others have to plan a wee bit ahead dont turn round a week before and say its a basic now and be surprised if only a few pitch up

It is definately a draft version.

The V24 Club AGM is Sunday, and the events we are organising will be confirmed individually only on Sunday!

Having said that, the End of Season BASIC, 15 November 2008 which is an Around The Island BASIC for all, is a dead cert.

If foreign boats are taking part, it has to be a "International Invitation Race" or summat like that, then it incurrs a UIM calendar fee as well as the RYA one.

Been caught out by this one before.

Which is what I thought..........this means if more than one country run under a basic banner? I also remember that a Basic could not be more than 40/50 nm??? has this changed?

I'm pretty sure you're right about the distance, looks like the dreaded "...would like dispensation.." letter to the RYA or change the whole status of the race. That would obviously incurr a larger calendar fee again.

It's all a bit of a potential minefield for race organisers these days...

No wonder racing is dead in the Water with all that politics. Turn the CTC into the CTC Poker run Largest one in the world. Format could incluced for the compulsary hour stop you have to go to 5 pubs neck a drink and get a card. (apart from the driver of course )

Suggesting drinking at any time when driving or on a boat is suicidal and can never be funny or a joke
Sorry, you want powerboating banned? Keep joking just need sone person from any insurance company to get sight of a suggetion like that and premiums IF you can get one will go thru the roof...............
