ORDA AGM Dinner/Dance

Pat has sent out e-mails and letters with details of our annual Dinner Dance in January but forgot to say what time the AGM was. It will be at 2pm on Saturday, 24th January. If anyone is interested in coming, just let me know.

I didn't get a letter or email? Or anything for the site, too.

Wishful Thinking: If you pm me your address, Pat will post details out to you but she did e-mail you details on Friday.
Matt: Pat will post out another set. We were also led to believe you weren't able to do the web-site anymore?

Don't know who you told you that - can continue to do the site fine, if you still want, of course.

Really sorry Matt, Dave & Shirley must have got the wrong end of the stick but they told us you couldn't do it. There must be some confusion somewhere!

Hi Matt, I'm trying to e-mail you details again. I don't know why they are not getting to people. My IT advisor (grandson Dan) is playing rugby this morning. Do you want to ring me on 07966 927 416 if you don't receive it today.

Hi Matt,

Shirley sent an email to the address on the website and got an automated answer dated April, that you were no longer doing the website.

Thats what has caused the confusion.

I can assure you that if I was having a hissy strop and refusing to administer the site, I would have the courtesy to let you know directly.

Meanwhile, I'll check out why the "Contact" form has stopped working.

If there's anyone who hasn't received an e-mail or letter by the middle of the week and would be interested in coming to our Dinner Dance on 24th January, please ring me on the number above. Perhaps we could have a Boatmad table?

Well it seems that the ORDA website is now nicely up to date. Well done all concerned!

The problem with small club websites is that the webmaster does his best, but if he is not fed with information, he hasn't got time nor money to chase the info and update the site.

The Round Britain site was so popular because the organiser of the race, made sure the site was updated nearly every day.

I suspect I will never look after a website, that had that amount of hits per day, and talking to my guys that hosted that site, they will never forget the "traffic load" that crashed their servers on June 21st. To give everyone an idea, the RB site got more unique users on that day than P1 did in 6 months!

Now when Channel 4 show their version of the RB film "prime time", my guys will be working 24/7 to maintain the servers!
