Hi Guys!

We've just got back having spent time in Portugal slowing coming back down to earth. Its just sinking in!

I know, those last three laps as the engine started to die were one of the most tense of our lives!! We were begging for the port one to stay alive, thank goodness it responded!

Look forward to seeing you all in January, have a good break and hopefully we'll back again next year (will leave you guessing on which class !

Jackie and Mike

Think most UK teams are ok with new rules, think we are one of the few who have to change our tandem canopy to side by side. Arpro - buzzy bullet are ok conserning the canopy.

no really major changes!

average speed moves from per lap to the whole race
Foot throttles phased out in 2008 in SuperSport (petty stupid rule IMHO)
More ability to check technical compliance to the rules (a good thing)
Tandem seating (not a problem)
No aerodynamic modifications (fins on Buzzi Bullet as was)
Super Licences in 2008 for Evolution ... UIM driving this

I think that's the main stuff

Mike

what made me think there were major changes was the bold bits about 10 boats and 200 engines plus the 20m open 65ft a whopper, although cant imagine it being quick with a 2x6ltr diesel engines. I guess the speed alterations could be major, does this mean as in Cowes you could now race to the max for the duration of the race and then back off on the last 1/2 mile if you have exceeded the average speed in order to cross the finish at 75mph, if so I would guess this would lead to far fewer disqualifications, appeasing the team's and sponsor's, also did not realise the rules allowed for petrol engine forced induction in evolution, this could allow petrol engines an unfair advantage against non forced induction petrol of the same HP

Most of the rules you mention were there before
The speed over the whole race simply means that if you screw up in a lap, you have the whole race to catch up, rather than now where if you get behind in the first lap you are pretty much screwed. Also, if half the race was flat and half rough ... you could go faster on the flat parts.

On the engines, you simply build to the rules .. so if it allows supercharged, you'd probably take it. I know that Donzi for example chose the non-EFI (carb based) Supercharged Sterling engine as it gave him more flexiblity to "configure"

Surely that's a good rule since Jackie will have to let you play as well, without you needing to start divorce procedings!

That's true Matt
We were going there anyway, just can't see what place it has in the rule book. People should be free to choose

Read on world of powerboats site http://www.worldofpowerboats.com/Gen...S&RecordID=390 about a vacant position for a new COE for the P1 series, going by what David of WOP has posted this may prove quite a problem for the comming season

The WOP article is not strictly correct. Martin McDonald was there but Nathan Knight was ill, so Ivan Schouker stood in for him.

As far as they were willing to say, Nathan Knight will remain on the board of KBL (P1), but they are looking for a new CEO. The other role advertised as I understrood it was Operations Director, the role previously done by Martin McDonald, so I assume as Martin is still with KBL, that he is doing a different role in 2007.

It is just a reorganisation, although we will all be sad not to be dealing directly with Nathan

Best wishes for the awards this weekend Jackie and Mike, think Jackie should get best throttle man/woman, and of course Mike best Navigator for keeping her on the straight and narrow over the season

Awards

Thank you

I agree with you on Mike...he enabled us to win on navigation alone on some occasions when others were hairing around all over the place!

Just wish we were off to race as well

See:

It was certainly interesting convincing BA to let us take them on the plane

I like your style! Anyone lapped more than twice during a race should have their boat stripped for parts and the remainer made into trophies
