Team Honeyparty.com prepares for Italy
British team Honeyparty.com has been working hard to get ready for the first race of the Powerboat P1 World Championships in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy from 9-11 May. Throttleman Richard Carr and driver Paul Sinclair have been testing the specially designed vee hull skater 399 over a series of weekends to perfect the new set up, which has been altered to meet the P1 requirements. Before bringing the boat to the UK earlier this year the team had been competing in and won the American Offshore Super Series Vee Extreme class World and National Championships.
“To ensure that the boat is running at optimal performance and assess any potential problem areas we been testing in the Bournemouth bay area using the Brass Monkey circuit, which runs from Boscombe pier to Bournemouth pier,” says Team Manager Mark Pascoe. “Using the same course each time allows us to closely monitor and test the set up of the engines, propellers and polish our technique, guaranteeing both boat and crew have the best possible advantage.”
“The testing sessions have been a great chance for Richard and me to get back in the boat and hone our skills in a variety of sea conditions,” commented Paul. “Seeing how we have progressed has been a good confidence boost after the spin out at Key West in Florida.”
Supporting the pair in their P1 entry are Team Manager and second driver Mark Pascoe, who has many years experience managing race teams as well as endless powerboat race titles under his belt, Crew Chief Trevor Leigh, whose previously worked with race teams Tekne Lamborghini, Victory Team and Honda UK, and Assistant Mechanic Danny Armon, who like the other team members has a wealth of experience having worked at Vulture Ventures, Cougar, Pascoe International and raced in the Honda series.
“I am extremely pleased with how the boat is running and confident in the team’s abilities,” says Richard. “Having such an experienced support team has been invaluable throughout the testing and I’m in no doubt they will continue to aid the team’s successes during the P1 championship.”
The engines are now being prepared to head back to Tommy Hofstetter’s workshop in the states for the final stages of the teams preparations before the start of the P1 championships.
