RB11 is a Go

All,

A Round Britain Powerboat Race will take place in June/July 2011. The race will be along the lines of RB08 in terms of style & routes. The classes will be the same, the race has the support of the previous organisers.

A kick off meeting is booked for Dec 5th 2009. To be held at Drivers Dry Berthing - Southampton. An invitation for this meeting & it's agenda will be released tomorrow

All are welcome, the meeting will include the following - Level of interest from racers, a pledge of support from support crew/ race officials and provisional dates, venues, fee's, roles & responsibilities.

This meeting is the same day as Driver's boat jumble sale... so come along and have a browse before & after the meeting. The RB11 official website will be launched in approx 2 weeks.

Any of you Boatmader's out there that are interested please register your interest on this thread & PM me your details so that I can send you the invite by post/email

The plan going forward is to have a RB11 newsletter distributed quarterly to keep everybody up to date with the detail & the journey up to race start.

This is a very exciting time for British powerboating, next year is the 50th CTC, this event bridges the gap to the 2012 extravaganza.

All the best

Dean

I believe that with it being at the discression of the organisers, it will probably be monohull only, as per the original Marathon rules.

In the US I'm just waking up to this news. Very Cool. I'm happy Dean is involved I think it will be a great event. I either need to get a ride or buy a oil burner. Whats available out there.
