You're welcome!
Our intention was to bring out the Bladerunner we have been modifying for the V24's and for safety, but that was down to just one gearbox, so I joined in with the raceboat on the safety side with Bob Mcarthy and the OCR lot. It was a great opportunity to see the boats and get a few photos with my new Canon 450D (I'll put some up later).
Congratulations to everyone who took part, and I'm sorry it wasn't a bit rougher for you Jon.
It turned out that Marcs aircraft liferaft was not acceptable to the RYA, and with nowhere else for a standard raft to go,and not enough fuel capacity to go there and back we couldn't do the race ( we would have struggled to get there in one go!) - if this is going to be a regular thing, maybe we should build a bigger boat - you know those moulds you have Jon and Nick?

Actually, it was brought inshore to satisfy the safety officers.
Had we had trackers fitted (there wasn't time to get it done for this event) we would have run directly across Lyme Bay in the traditional way.

Cowes 2008
Eric and I would like to say a BIG thank you to Mike Lloyd, Jon Fuller and all concerned with putting on a wonderful CTC in the little time that they had. Eric and the Cinzano crew had a great day and are looking forward to next year. Maybe our sons will be racing aswell.
Thanks again

I was aware of the reasons for it being brought more in shore, all i was saying it was a good move imho and benifited by more ppl being able to watch it, there were 20 boats at the west bay turn all with several ppl on boardand all enjoyed the spectacle!!, i hope you keep this course or one similar in future, i think it would be a shame to take it out of our reach on our part of the coast buy taking it out to a more traditional course.
im sure it would be in the racers interst to keep as many ppl interested as possible

The best picture I have seen of our boat (swipewipes.co.uk) was taken by Graham Stevens, from land!

Many many thanks Scand for the photos and youtube video we were pretty close to carbon footprint on the turn. shame the conditions were so calm never had the flat speed
Must say a big thanks to Mike and his team for stepping in at the last minute, from all the bandit team we had a fantastic time.
Lets make August bank holiday weekend a boating festival of speed its great to see the guys with old, new race boats even if only for show.

I thought it was an excellent event, and my only complaint would be the lack of beer tent and catering (hog roast etc) in the pits. These would have made a more sociable event, giving everybody some where to chat, chill out and generally talk bollix!
If this can be sorted for next year then I'll be a happy chap!

Good Weekend.
Mike Lloyd, Jon Fuller and the rest managed to rescue it.
The “stand out” moments for me were,
Norman Taylor and his team of Scrutineers.
Denise and Nicky in race control.
Pennpromo having to be out there all day with the doctor.
And TP doing the prize giving, I enjoyed writing the speech, but the “Pantomime Villain” didn’t get it !!!!!!!

Sorry Tony, nearly had it all until I saw the quote. More than the whole event cost!! Determined to get all that stuff going for next year just for you and JF.
