RE-LAUNCH of CTC Race

There is still much to be positive about !

While Powerboat P1 have 'pulled the plug' on their promotion of the CTC & CPC Races, there have been, during this evening, many moves, to ensure that a race WILL take place at Cowes, over This Years bank holiday weekend.

Info' will be filtering out over the next few days, but rather than centre on the negative headings of CTC Cancelled, CTC In Trouble, etc., let us use the above more positive heading, & look forward to some bright times in an increasingly downbeat world.

Cowes Still lives - watch this space !!!

I was just beginning to enjoy returning to a normal life.

Just to put all minds at rest, all classes stay as they are, there might be an amendment regarding minimum weight. We are looking at knocking that one out. As Jon has said entry fees will drop to a more realistic figure and if we can get monies back from P1 and you have already paid over the top then you will be re-funded accordingly.

This historic race will run in a similar fashion to the RB08. No frills, no fancy tents, no race village, a bare bones Club event for you the racers only. We believe in telling you how it is. The race will be on a very low budget and everything will be in place but there is no money for cranes, fuel etc, at the moment. You will have to arrive - hopefully in Cowes - as with the RB08, Race Ready and hopefully by water. It is very unlikely, although we are looking at one possibility, that there will be any dry pits at Cowes for you to use. We have three weeks to put it all in place, all we need now are you guys.

Also, without the P1 purse, we're going to need some volunteers for safety boats, but the old fasioned kind, not the paid kind. Anyone who can help, please step forward.

Send a message via Skype™ to ciao!
I'm backing Mike Lloyd to be event director of this race, but I guess it will be sorted out in the next 24 hours.

As soon as it is "firmed up", it will be on here, and the BPRC website will be giving info out in the same way as RB site did.

Mike wants to have Keith back flying the helicopter, video and pictures of the race.

All of this should be a "walk in the park" in just under 3 weeks!

Lets have a good race, and all "stand proud" together that we pulled it off.

Just a quick update:

Fabio is coming and so is Hannes 100%.
It looks like we might also have an Apache 41 as well. We do now have 31 provisional boats. Just got to convert them into guarantteed jobbies.
It's all looking good for a great CTC. It would be great if we can beat the RB08 entry of 47 boats, 50 must be our target. Would love to see that lot as one mass start at Cowes!!!!

John,

obviously funds are an issue as always so why not offer up a quick CTC membership of BPRC so that non entrants / racers can show support and add to the available monies?

Looking to have the XPS down that neck of the woods around then and if so she's available for safety or whatever you want. If I can get the revenger rebuilt in time I may even manage an entry but that may be a call too far.
