I must admit it was very unpleasant conditions at the time of the Brass monkey this year ... how about moving the BM on 6 weeks or so next year so it will be the not so Brass monkey

good to hear it's looking to be better supported event, hopefully their will be a big turnout from 3b to the Fountains and perhaps even the ex USA Phantom

A quiz question for Flying Fish ... what is the fastest average speed for the CR ... I believe most years were won by the Class 2 Follett years back, but I can not recall the CUV Follett cars doing one, however I do recall the Toleman's cat back in the 80's finishing one and I assume winning the event, then their was Richard Carrs 41' Cougar 100+mph pleasure boat that took part but I think that retired so no super fast average speed their

WOW, FF that's amazing and very quick, must admit looking at the list my thoughts that the Plantec mono won many 80's CR races is shot to pieces as it appears only once in 85, and the Toleman's cat is not showing either, and I can't seem to recall Richard Carr having success with that 27' cougar cat, all I recall is it broke down far to much, I do remember Assagai although not sure which of their many cats that one was, and I bet your right with the Buzzi holding the Fastest average speed at 87mph that's FF (fairly flying) ...

Although that Debenhams win could have had a pretty good average was JF on board for that one

was the Toyota Cougar Mono the Ali or the glass one, the ali one hung around the Coulpins yard in Hamworthy for many years

the ali one was Outsider, an italian build i think.

The Toyota 46 is Dick Struttons glass US1-46 / triple Sabre, rigged by Mr Brooker.

I didn't get involved with Debenhams till '91.

Cancer questions

Assagai IV was ex-Kenwood,ex-Performance Boat (Yellow).

Debenhams av was 71.3mph

Jon is correct with his info.Outsider was Stain built (Cougar design) and was ex-Cougar Italia (A.Bardelle/A.Bottanelli).After Outsider became Ricard Outsider.

The Get Carter pic in the Gallery was taken off the pier during the Cancer Race, when the rolling start was nearer the shore than the end of the pier ,so all the boats had to curl round the pier head like the old Southend races used to.Brilliant!!!! Can you imagine the arm waving and performing if that happened now.

Just to show I ain`t making it up.The boats were racing so close they were snapping the fishing lines off the pier head!

08 Cancer Race

That just shows you what can happen when there are no results posted, and one is trying to piece the race together from all the Boatmad banter.Bet scott was chuffed he was credited for it,considering he`d been trying for 30 odd yrs since Ford Persuader days.

I think in '95 Willie took home all our "ill gotten gains"
