Round Britain 2008
Saw outline details for a Round Britain race for 2008 - also spoke to OOD about it.
Now that would be an event - hope it comes off and there is plenty of advance confirmation that it is happening.
Now what boat to run...

The interest already shown in the Round Britain Offshore Powerboat Race - 2008 is fantastic. The organisers of this event are working in the background on the logistics and sponsorship etc. and when we have more firm information to impart about the "proposed" race we'll come back to you.
Keep watching and listening but please give us time to organise this event to work to the best advantage of competitors, sponsors and spectators.
More information in due course will be announced giving Web site address with interest questionnaire in due course.

I have one concern - 2008 isn't that far away, that leaves little time to put everything in place for anyone that would be building (and perhaps designing in some cases) a boat for the race.

Will your Bladerunner do the round Britian or run in the Hotboat Class?

( marc )
At the moment it just sits there looking ugly, going nowhere with no engines....
Actually I was hoping to put a new boat together for long distance record attempts. This 'new' boat would probably be good for the round Britian race.
For the Hotboat I would probably attempt to use the V24, and strengthen it up a little. It already has 500Hp ( aparently )
I am getting a new engine built. I would hope to use this engine in Hotboat in the existing V24....

Exactly correct - really hope it does all happen - but it is not definite until the organisers have their budget 100% in place.
In the meantine most competitors will also have to raise funds and especially if designing / building a new boat it is impossible to fully commit until the organisers have confirmed the race / budget is in place.
Good luck to all.
