Depends is it with a driver or without

If its minibus only it would be better to try and get someone like Ford to try and lend you one.

Minibus and coach show next month send me some info on the event and i will try and tout

Book arrived this morning...Bloody marvelous! And some great pics.

Top: A reminder of just how wrong it can go when powerboat racing.

Bottom: they're gonna need a good run-up to get through that finish gate!

Alf was a right old rough diamond, offshore champ, Formula 1 (OZ) circuit Champ.
Who would have thought to tie off a bouy marker so the hull was marked and could be recovered later, I bloody wouldn't I'd be well on my way out of there let alone pose for the camera

wasnt in 1984 when those two old timers did it in the rubber-ring!

in fact, I'm sure they must be some kinda relation to Ian Sterling, perhaps nephews

That was Johnny Calcutt and he won't appreciate being called old in 1984! He was only about 35 then. I was talking to him the other day and he likes the idea of doing it again but in a bigger boat this time.

I think this is your man Blufin. Picture taken of him down at the Powerboat Museum in Basildon. Quite a character and racer apparently. Love that Trophy he's holding. Wonder what that was for.

Who are you calling old!! I am actually only 23, but the years have not been kind to me! Do you think they would let me have a go in the P21? I could tow a couple of 45gallon drums of fuel behind!

Irrespective of where the actual ports of call end up being, I DEFINATLY intend to get involved in this one !
I marshalled at Portsmouth (H.M. Dockyard) in '84, but am having (mad) thoughts about getting up a joint team with other oldies like me, to enter this one, before I get too old !
Is anyone planning an entry, & looking for "an old idiot" to join them ?!

Yeah, but I'm afraid I already have my token 'old Idiot' in the form of Tony Davis.

Just to let you all know that after announcing on Boatmad in just a quiet way in just two weeks we now have had twenty five emails from potential participants provisionally saying that they want to take part in the Round Britain Race 2008. That must be some sort of record.
The spirit of adventure in offshore powerboat racing is still alive and kicking which is great news.
In the book "Round Britain Powerboat Race 1969 the author Crab Searl said that he reckoned that with 75 provisional entries he would have 50 boats racing. If we go on at this pace that will soon be reached and we haven't got the Italians, Middle East boys or the Americans on board yet.
Imagine 50 powerboats starting this race line abreast off of Cowes!
Steady there OldMan, you are getting carried away!!
