If my decrepit and failing memory serves me correctly, JF changed it amidst some banter ages ago.

I think I've got it!

Time allowance is based on 20 knot average. If you don't get to the finish in that time you're scored the time allowance plus three hours. If you don't start a leg you score the time allowamce plus four hours.

Ice Kiddie has a bit of history - at one point Richard was registered here as Dickie (can't remember why). Ice Kid is an anagram of Dickie and seemed quite apt as our boat is called Blue Ice. He then became Ice Kiddie. Just to prevent any future confusion, Ice Kiddie is also Richard B on RIBnet (but not RichardB!). I am just plain Louise on RIBnet.

So to summarise:

Ice Kiddie = Richard B
Louise = Louise

All clear now?

Anyway, back to the race. Is the engine fixed now Jon? All the best for the remaining legs and don't forget: Noli nothis permittere te terere!

Clear as mud

i dont think they were new engines, but i could be wrong

A team I had expected less breakdowns from is the garmin/Hunton guys as they appeared to get the boat in the water for some testing before the start of RB and as Jeff is not new to the boating world or diesel powerplants I thought it may be slowish compared to some but not unreliable the team I hate to say gave me little faith in their choice of power was challenger/Fountain but hopefully both these teams can get themselves on track for part 2 of BR

Is TFO the Revenger 25 number 4 boat? They are running in 5th place, and staying up there with the Goldfish and Scorpions.

Rumour has it that Fabio Buzzi is no stranger to running over the Submarine defences in Portsmouth! What is the latest on his red boat? Are they safe and did the boat get saved?

your very right about jeff, sadly been let down by the engines and he did join the team after the selection had been made as we originally planned to enter our own boat but had to pull out due to production.

the hull is extremely capable in all conditions, proven by one of our customers overtaking the majority of boats at the start line, just needs a lot more testing and set up with these unproven drives and engines.

believe garmin are trying to get road transport up to inverness.

red fpt looks to be on the hard,

remember the drives were a bit different, but what diesel engines did they use Tom all I can recall reading is they are 450hp each, do you know what has been the main source of the problems on these engines, like you say the 40' hull seems capable enough it ran pretty well in the rough stuff back in the late 80's

they are using MSA drive, which look good and seem a quality product, use mercury props as well which is a bonus. they are possibily mounted too low on garmin so the props aren't getting clean water.

Marine diesel are the power plant, marinised hummer block, though the ones in garmin aren't on this site. pictures are on a facebook group for garmin racing

thanks Tom I have too say reading both sites promo stuff makes it hard to believe you haven't found a marine miracle and would therefore be a good choice for someone in the market, guess we shall have too see if they can get it all working cohesively for the next 4 stages

Well... the Hummer is a General Motors product (H2 is sort of Chevvy based, on the GMT800 chassis - you can look up the chassis details on Wikipedia as it has excellent details for anoraks).

There are other details on the specs for those motors that sound like they are GMs.
