I think they used to be made by GM, but has now been replaced by the 6.6l V8. I someone bought the tooling and continued the production. I think these are the same blocks that JF has in the Phantom 28?

That's exactly what I do get Ice, but last night I kept clicking and it wasn't staying.

Why is it showing that, when they are in, Inverness, are they not turned on?

I guess so... I think it'll show the last recorded position until updated.

I think the Round Britain crew members are enjoying a relatively easy life compared to us mere mortals who wish to follow their progress... whilst they calmly navigate from point A-to-B taking in the pleasant views of Britan's glorious coastline, little do they realise the hard gruelling efforts us keyboard navigators are going through loading up MarineTrack, pressing F5 and hoping for a refresh, zooming-in only to find MultiMap has no data for a particular area, and then zooming back out only to find the system has timed out! I hope the pilots take some time out from sampling Scotch whisky during their day off in Inverness to think about what a monumental effort us fans are putting in!!!

take a look at http://www.shipais.com/ could this system not be used in future. The time riverdance beached off blackpool you could follow its movements before hand in real time 24/7

I didn't realise the start boat was in the running? I thought once Portsmouth was done and dusted its job was over.
Great pics. Good to see the Targa is still in the mix, and the blue XS is holding up, I wonder how Shelly is doing. None of the boats look like they are halfway through a 1600 mile race, just exactly as they looked Friday night at Gunwarf.

The Garmin boat has the GM/Isuzu 6.6 litre Duramax motors, not the 6.5 litre GM / AM General blocks that mine are based on.

The motors are extremely strong. The problem appears to be the variable boost turbos, which I think are the automotive jobs, rather than a marine replacement.

We've been given a 30 minute penalty for the Saturday race for going inside the exclusion zone at start point, (based on marine track data) so now have 63 mins to catch up the Goldfish rib which is running in first place in class. A bit of a bummer.

And what does your GPS track show?
Everyone on here has been having a nightmare getting any sensible data off the marine track site - boats being shown significantly exceeding the WOT speed for example.

Thanks for clearing up the confusion on the Garmin engines...Is it true that the time penalty's are open to a challenge from teams and after a hearing it may be decided to remove the penalty...lets hope so anyway good luck with the next 4 stages

And yes those Goldfish ribs seem very quick will defiantly look forward to their P1 challenge after their RB assault

That's what I understood the Garmin boats turbos are not water cooled and overheating, not much forced air through a boats engine bay !!!
Teams are being handed out time penalties right left and centre and why? Because Marinetrack have put them in an exclusion zone. How can that be considered a definitive yard stick when it shows boats all over the place and never where they actually are.

I'd be interested to know how the "exclusion zone" is defined. If it's one mile, then you could have an interesting point to argue for a number of reasons...
1) Nautical or statute mile? Is the "exclusion zone" definition absolutely concise about this?
2) You appear to be right on 1 mile off the point... but I guess MarineTrack's Multimap based system uses statute miles?
3) Your track looks dead straight to me... so some degree of interpolation must have been used (or Nick's got a very steady hand on the wheel!)
4) Can the actual plotted points be produced as evidence? The calculated track between these mean absolutely nothing and can easily be argued as inadmissible evidence IMHO. If an actual recorded plot puts you in the "exclusion zone" then sorry mate it's tough poo. If not, I'd fight like a rottweiler!
Best of luck.

(PS. The spell checker doesn't like Rottweiler and wants to use "Throttler"!!)
