Please provide list of "and Affiliated Clubs". Or, which club will be stumping up the excess in the event of an insurance claim?

The V24 Powerboat Club agreed to be one of the organising clubs. We have been assisting were we can. ( like distributing 1600 'safety notices' to marinas around the solent. ) I guess that means that we carry the can should there be insurance excess from the event. It is part of the deal I guess.

ORDA specifically asked not to be involved, so I guess they are not involved.

I think every other offshore club is involved in assisting in the event with the exceptions ( to my knowledge ) of ORDA and UKOBA. I may be wrong there - I have been wrong before!

No - all you are doing is looking to cause trouble and stir unrest. Because you are not participating in the event, you wish the event to be a failure. As at this time it does not appear to be a failure, you are unhappy.

I dont know why Gary feels he needs to answer your question.

I thought you were a member of ORDA's committee? ORDA had three committee members at the meeting. Did they not report back the the rest of the committee? Did they not tell the committee what had transpired at the meeting, and what decisions they took on behalf of ORDA? I reported back to the rest of the V24 Powerboat committee that same evening, and discussed what we had done and what we had agreed to become involved with. Everyone agreed with what we had decided to do, so I confirmed all the points with the RYA in a letter, making our involvement official.

Did ORDA discuss their non-participation with their committee? Perhaps they should have? Then you would actually know what is going on - or do you know what is going on and are just trying to cause some form of dissent?

Dont bother answering that question.

Marc you need to get your head from out of your arse. I have beeen involved with cowes for 15 years now and do not want to see it fail. It used to be the premier powerboat race but sadley now it is a media show. No we are not participating in the event niether are you. You are only there for glory and not supporting the national event. Is that because cs whooped your arse in the other races you participated in? You have been on the scene for a very short time and have added to the demise of offshore racing in the uk.
All i wanted to know is what clubs are running Cowes. If you feel this needs more face to face disscusions name the place and i will endevour to be there.

And you wonder why the sport is dying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You behave like kids, and tell me when there only appears to be 3 V24 how can you have a club and committee????????????
I'm sorry but it amazes me why people like Mike Lloyd bother, 'cos with what has just been said here and earlier by Gary M it is no wonder that we have lost truly honest and sincere organiser like Tim P and Annie and Rod and Ann R..................
Support the sport and the people who give up there time AND money to run events and stop back stabbing.......

The V24 Club actually has NINE V24 crew, and there are FOUR additional boats that may still race this year - and definately will run next year with the new rules - making a total of SIX V24's from the V24 Powerboat Club...

We also have three BASIC drivers.

Apart from which we are activly encoraging new drivers into the sport, with subsidies for race event entries, start money and occasionally full entry fee's paid. We are also offering BASIC training days. The training days are now official RYA sanctioned events, with proper RYA day licences being issued, full insurance, launching, scrutineering, lectures, notes, charts, lunch etc everything included for the price of exactly nil pounds. I think that although the club is relatively new - we were only formed in 2005 - we are doing more for the sport for our size than any other club to encorage powerboat racing.

We are also activly recruiting membership from current drivers, who will be able to provide input into the way the club is run. We are organising our first race this year, and hope to run a national event in 2008. We have plans for the sport. We are going to make things happen.

If our plans work out as intended, at the end of this 2007 season we will probably be the second largest active offshore powerboat drivers/crew club in the UK...

Morning all

Just a couple of points here from me!!!!

Firstly and before you say it i am not a racer and it is without question that i have the utmost respect for all the guys and ladies that race but it is not for me thank you very much. I can just about cope with a larger boat in big big waves and force 8 winds with the boat sinking and yes i have been there with a skipper who thank god knew what they were doing.

Secondly the people who give their time as officials and organisers do so because they love the sport, and i will not get into back stabbing or debate about them at any time they to deserve respect for what they do. At times we may not always see eye to eye with their views but that is human nature.

So come on guys give them a break and if you have comments or need answers why not talk to the people and ask the questions without making your mind up on rumours and here say. If we are honest we all want Powerboat racing to be enjoyable and more importantly safe for everyone. Remember the people who race, officiate, and organise really if we are honest never want to see anyone hurt and spend countless hours working to that goal for everyone.

I am sure that comments will follow and i will do my best to answer them when i can.

Regards

Denise

Both need to calm down a wee bit, me thinks!!
Everybody has an opinion, and this is a forum, not a set up for a cage fight.
